  1. You're right...no one cares. There are only three pages of dialogue about the Yankees-Red Sox. But let's change the subject. Let's talk about the team with the best record in baseball...the ST. LOUIS CARDINALS. With Carpenter, Suppan, Marquis and Morris, they are a LOCK to win it all. Sarcasm off. I respect St. Louis as a great baseball town, with a great fan base. But if there were ever fans rooting for a team that could finish with the best record in baseball, and then call for the manager's head when the season ended, it would be this year's Cardinal fans. Because that's exactly what I think will happen if the Cards fall in the playoffs, and no offense, BF, but I think you will be leading the charge.
  2. Anyone here wish TD returned Jeff George's phone call? Just curious.
  3. Well, I didn't have internet access in the 80s and I lived in Germany for most of the 80s so you'll just have to take my word for it. There was a time when I wanted to see the Red Sox win it all, as long as it wasn't at the Yankees' expense. In other words, if Boston made it to the World Series during a season when the Yankees were bad, I wouldn't have minded to see them win it all. That has changed now. I would attribute that change to ESPN and the internet. I think ESPN is biased against the Yankees and pro-Red Sox. I also interact with fans from other teams, mostly Red Sox fans, and their obnoxious behavior has led to a stronger dislike of the team. The Red Sox=the Dolphins now.
  4. Oh spare me. First of all, I've been a Yankee fan ALL MY LIFE. I'm 34-years old and I've never had another favorite team than the Bills, Yankees, Sabres, and Orangemen. The only bandwagon I've ever jumped on is the Indiana Pacers and that's because I moved to Indianapolis, never had a favorite NBA team, and started following the team when I moved here. Some fans are obnoxious, no question about it. But the Red Sox have just as many obnoxious fans, and that's not up for debate. I've encountered more a$$holes wearing the B on their caps, and not only when it's obvious that I'm a Yankees fan. A$$holes are everywhere, and they root for the Yankees, Red Sox and all other teams. If Boston ever wins it all, you don't think there will be Red Sox fans everywhere acting like they've personally won something? You bet your ass they will, and you know what-- they should. If you live and die with the team, suffer through the hard times, and are still there when their day finally comes, I think you should celebrate like it has a personal affect on you. You know why? Because if it means that much to you, to watch the team year after year, it ought to feel pretty damn good. When the Bills win a Super Bowl, I'm going to celebrate as if I had something to do with it. I realize I don't have anything to do with it, but I'll be happy as if I did.
  5. No big deal. You'll catch hell from everyone, but the Red Sox didn't plate two in the ninth of Rivera because you hit the button. Rather, they scored two runs in the ninth of Rivera because their fans sold their soul to the devil in exchange for a little win in mid-September.
  6. Relax T-Bone. No one can make you feel inferior without your permission. I read that somewhere. Congrats on the win tonight. Remember the good feeling when you guys get knocked out of the playoffs. It will help you sleep better.
  7. Brady all the way. Doesn't matter what the score might be, Brady and the Pats will throw it around the field and pile up completions, yards and TDs.
  8. I respect Schilling and I have always thought he was a classy guy and a great pitcher. His respect for the Yankee tradition during the 2001 World Series said a lot about the guy. He could have signed with the Yankees, but he chose Boston, and as much as I want him to lose with the Red Sox, I respect the decision to go to Boston. He knows that if he can help them win it all, his legacy in Boston is on par with Orr, Bird, Yaz, etc., even if his career in Boston is a very short one. Having said that, pitchers have their own award and the only way I can see giving a pitcher the MVP is if not many every-day players have had great seasons. But with Manny, Sheffield, Ichiro and Ortiz having the seasons they've had, it has to go to an every-day guy. Just my opinion.
  9. You expect that bastard to have a ball hit him in the head and bounce over the fence for a home run before he makes a catch like that. That was a great grab, and an important one too. Die-hard Yankees fan here, but if I had a vote, right now I'd pick Manny as MVP. Sheffield has had a great season, but Manny's has been a tad better. Man, I hate being objective.
  10. Rayzer....I'm a Yankees fan, and tonight's loss is a bummer. But nevertheless, I'll sleep well tonight. However....if you ever pull this crap with the Bills, I will hunt you down. And I'm sure I will have help from other Bills fans, be they Red Sox or Yankees fans when it comes to baseball. Please, please, please.....do not celebrate a Buffalo win until the clock hits zero AND the officials have left the field. No, make it the stadium. No, wait until their airplane has taken off. So when the Bills have more points than their opponent, 60 minutes have been played, and the officials have left the city, then start talking smack. OK? By the way, Red Sox fans, what in the world is this crap on ESPN right now?
  11. I have a Toyota Highlander, and I absolutely love it.
  12. Some people are giving up on Julius Jones too quickly. I think he will be the guy in Dallas before too long. Also look for Keary Colbert, a WR in Carolina who had a huge preseason. He will get more reps now, since Steve Smith is injured.
  13. Fair enough. Let's hope you're right.
  14. How do you suggest this happens then? Lee Evans has great speed, but it takes time to get downfield and get open. But we don't have that time because our line isn't great at pass-protecting, and our quarterback sure as hell can't buy any time with his legs. So I ask you, what good does it do to have a speedy receiver? For now, we are better off with veteran receivers who can get open on short routes and catch the ball. That is a much more difficult thing to do then just streak down the field, and that's why I think it's going to take time for Evans to learn the skill of just getting open.
  15. I think the hamster inside your head stopped spinning his wheel. Please don't apply for the GM job when it comes open. But since we are talking trades, would anyone give up something to Tampa for Keenan McCardell (who is still holding out)? I think most of us agree that Josh is better in the slot, and that Lee is a year away from helping us. Just thought I'd throw that out there to start a debate about our receiving corps, which quite honestly I'm worried about (other than Moulds).
  16. If I'm not mistaken, we were #2 in the power rankings after week 1 of the 2003 season. Enough said.
  17. You bet you are. You don't have to see the game live (in person or on TV) to hurt from a loss like that one. I was driving from Arkansas to Indiana listening to the game on satellite radio. It was definitely a kick in the stomach. And I didn't have my stress ball to throw, or my dog to kick. Just kidding about the dog.
  18. It's all about perspective. If you look at it from the standpoint that Lee Evans was our first-round pick in 2004 and JP Losman is our first-round pick for 2005 (with a year's worth of learning and some practice under his belt), then things aren't so bad. Now in five years if Losman is out of the league or carrying a clipboard, and Dallas' pick is the league's MVP, we can all B word about it then.
  19. Let's say we knocked the ball down on the final play and won 10-6. That's the only play I'm talking about changing. The game was exactly the same, only we knocked down the ball on the last play. For those of you who were at the stadium or watched it on TV, what would have been your impressions? About Drew? About the conservative passing plays? About our defense? About Travis and Willis' 106 yards? I know there is a ton of negativity because we lost, but what positive things would you have said, and what negative things would you still have said, had we won?
  20. I would not disagree with that. It's probable because Oakland is as good as we are, but we have to go across the country. If it were at home, I'd say we wold be favored. But we're not. Oakland should win. The Jets on the road and Pats at home should definitely be losses. After that, we get three of four at home...winnable games against Miami, the Jets and Arizona, with a road game in Baltimore that has a 3-0 score written all over it. And who wants to be a in a 3-0 game with our kicker? Not me. Who knows? The only thing that appears to be a given with this team is that they are going to make us fans suffer from heartbreak. They really know how to do that.
  21. If. If If. If. I'm so sick of that fu**ing word. If we don't fumble. If we don't hold. If we don't drop the pass. If we knock the ball down. If we blocked. If this and if that, week after week after week after week. Watching this team is like watching Groundhog Day. Here's another IF for you... IF we are 0-4 after the Jets game on Oct. 10, I will be surprised IF I don't need to go to a mental hospital.
  22. The Cowboys would love for us to go 4-12 and get a high draft pick. If I'm not mistaken, we traded our 2005 first-round pick to Dallas for the spot in the 2004 draft at which we drafted Losman.
  23. I have a ticket-related story from the weekend too. I drove to Fayetteville, Ark. for last night's Arkansas-Texas (great game, great atmosphere). The tickets never arrived in the mail, so I called the Arkansas athletic department and they issued me four vouchers for each of the tickets. 10 minutes before kickoff, four college-aged kids show up with tickets, wondering why we were in their seats. They were bummed to find out that the tickets that they paid $400 for were stolen and voided. Nevertheless, they were in the stadium and presumably watched the game from somewhere...just not in my seats.
  24. I'm one of the biggest Travis supporters on this board, but I wondered the same thing. I thought Willis would be in the game. Who knows what would have happened. I think that run defense is one of the best we will face all year. We managed 106 yards. Not great, but not bad either.
