  1. Pat Kirwain talks about Greer nearly hourly on his show on sirius radio. He believes that Greer is a very good cb that many teams should look at signing. NFL teams are going to do their homework, and when they do they will realize that Greer is a very solid cb. He will fetch a more lucrative contract than most people think.
  2. I agree that there is a risk to drafting dts. As was said, many are busts and others take a long time to develop. The problem however, is the good ones are usually taken early and never hit the free agent market. I like what New England has done. When they have an early 1st round pick they have drafted dts. All three of their starting dts were selected in the first half of round 1. Mayo last season was an exception, but they did not need to draft another tackle. When you have an opportunity to draft an athletic big man, you have to go for it. Good linebackers, safetys, corners, rbs, and wrs can be found later in the draft and in free agency.
  3. LT did revolutionize the olb position, but that does not mean he was a better than Bruce. It is a lot easier to look good playing olb than de. Bruce had to constantly fight double teams and teams had game plan around him. They are as close to equal as two players can get. There are other players that outplayed Bruce and LT, like Reggie White.
  4. A lot will change between now and draft day, but I can't imagine Rajj getting past the Bengals. If he does, he would be a great value at 11. On a different note, what happens if the best player on the board at 11 is an ot? Is there any way we would draft an offensive lineman at 11?
  5. I think this has very little with securing a good backup. This is all about trying to receive compensation for Cassel, something they may not be able to do.
  6. It would be my guess that the Patriots would like to trade him before or during the draft. What happens if the chiefs and lions draft qbs? At that point neither team would be looking for a qb. If the Patriots wait until August, they will get draft picks for the April 2010 draft. Why not trade this offseason and get players that can help you next season. I think they may have a difficult time trading Cassel. The chiefs and Lions will not give up their firsts. The patriots probably will not trade him for a 2nd. Plus whatever team trades for him will want to sign him long term. It will be hard to give Cassel a contract that competes with 14.6 million he will receive next year.
  7. As an exclusive rights free agent he might have to settle for 486,000. With the bills cash to the cap policy, they will probably looking to get the most out of their money. He deserves more, but he has no leverage. It will be interesting to see if Brandon pays him based on merit, or what he can get away with.
  8. I think Simms will be a titan. As posted before, Fisher is very high on Simms. He wants to retain him and Collins. Since the bills job would be as a backup, he might as well remain a titan.
  9. Both are overpaid, but both should be retained. I think it helps being able to rotate multiple ends. I would however, draft another end.
  10. It is too ealry to declare Hardy a bust, but it has been long enough to be concerned. Chances are due to his injury he will contribute little next season. So the question arises, how long do the bills wait until they draft or sign another wr. There have been a lot of wrs blossom late, Eric Moulds is a great example of this. Many wrs that are bad initially, are bad throughout their careers.
  11. If Jim Kelly was our current QB, the bills would have qualified for the playoffs. The QB position is the most important position in team sports. Any current nfl coach with P. Manning or T. Brady as their qb would look good. This is why the bills need to draft a qb this April. I'm not saying the Edwards will not be good, I'm just not positive he will be good. At this point, if the bills are not sure Edwards will be a start, they need to take a qb.
  12. I think T. Jones, C. Johnson, S. Slaton, Tomlinson (when healthy), Turner, Williams, S. Jackson, F. Gore are all better. Jacobs, Parker, R. Brown, Forte, are at a similar level.
  13. The eagles were unstoppable. Here is all you had to do. 1) Pick a pass play 2) If your opponent covered your receivers than you ran Cunnigham 3) If your opponent used the controlled player to attack Cunningham, you passed the ball 4) td ever time If things the bills were the 3rd best team
  14. I think now that KC has a new gm, there is a good possibility for a trade. The old gm Peterson, was a difficult guy to trade with with. He always asked for more than fair compensation. As for now, I wonder if Tony is still worth a 3rd round pick. Last season, we were leading the division at the trade deadline. Tony was the type of guy the bills were hoping could help them maintain their lead. Getting an extra 11 games out of Gonzalez would have made the trade worth it. Those 11 games however, are gone. I'd offer a 4th and 5th and see what happens.
  15. I miss the days when the cap meant something. It was not fun battling with the cap, but at least the bills spent as much as their rivals. In recent years the cap has gone up so much, that very few teams are hindered.
  16. I'd take his bad attitude back. The guy is great at finding talent in the draft. It is hard to believe at one point we had Smith, Polian, and Butler evaluating talent.
  17. As everyone knows, the bills have really struggled since the retirement of Kelly. We draft or trade for a qb of the future, develop that player for 2-3 years, then try again. Why not draft a qb every year until we get it right. If you end up with 2 top prospects on the team, you can trade one away. The qb you draft does not have to be taken in the 1st. It can come in any round, assuming the bills think the qb is the best player available. This thought could just be a product of my frustration, but it is about time the bills have a great qb. *I do think Edwards has a shot to be good, but since I don't know I would like to see a backup plan.
  18. I'm sure a lot of you guys remember the story. The bills tried to trade up from 13 to 9 to take Big Ben. The Jaguars however, asked for the moon. They wound up taking R. Williams at 9, who could have been had at 13 without question. What probably spoiled the opportunity to trade up was the Browns giving up a 2nd to move up one spot (7 to 6). It set a high price to trade up. How good do you think the bills would be if they had managed to trade up.
  19. The rushing total against the Patriots was high because we ran almost every play due to the poor weather conditions. In addition we did not run the ball well the entire game. The second half of the game we gained very few yards. The 2nd game against the Jets was an exception, but for the most part 3-4 defenses prevented the offense from scoring many points.
  20. The center position is the Bill's biggest need. Most teams can get away with not having a good center, in the AFC East however, C is extremely important. Miami, NE, and the Jets all play 3-4 defenses with stud nose tackles. Wilfolk, Jenkins, and Furgenson not only stuffed the run against us, but the collapsed the pocket when the Bills attempted to pass. To counter these players we need a strong talented center. This player could very well be a converted tackle or guard. Most college teams do not put their most talented lineman at center, because often, there is no one lined up across from them. Due to this fact, they value intelligence and quickness over strength and toughness. Fowler and Preston could be fine players in most other divisions. The bills were 7-3 outside of the division with 2-3 losses coming to 3-4 defenses. That means they went 0-8 against the 3-4. Bring in a better center, and they will start competing with those teams.
  21. A fan boycott would result in the bills franchise moving to another city. I know a decade of futility is frustrating, but the coaching staff is not bad. This team really needs to get better play at the qb position. Get a good qb, and Jauron will look great. This team really needs stability. You can't rebuild every 2-3 years and expect to compete.
  22. Jauron is a very good coach who just needs a qb to win games. I supported the bills decision to go with Edwards, but if Pennington or Favre was quarterbacking the bills they would qualify for the playoffs. I just hope Edwards turns it around, because the bills need stability, not another coach.
  23. Trent Edwards may or may not be the qb of the future, but the bills need to develop a qb either way. It is too hard to predict what current college qbs are deserving of a 1st round pick, but at some point the bills should take one. I wouldn't mind seeing the bills draft a qb every year until we find a guy who can play.
