That was R.D. Long, who played at Webster and then, inexplicably, got a scholarship to Arizona and then, even more inexplicably, got a minor league contract. Actually, it's pretty explicable: his father was a scout or something and knew people who knew people. After about ten years he made it as high as Columbus before retiring. Kid had speed to burn but not much else. Apparently he's still conning people, just in a different way.

The link doesn't speculate on Henry-to-the-Raiders specifically, just on Henry's worth and the fact that the Raiders are one of many teams looking for an RB. I wouldn't put much stock in Henry-to-Raiders rumors anyway. Ralph has been burned in both of his trades with Al Davis -- first by trading Daryle Lamonica to Oakland for Tom Flores and the damaged-goods Art Powell, and then by sending a draft pick there for Billy Joe Gunrack. After the Lamonica trade Ralph was so steamed he vowed he'd never trade with Davis again, and he didn't, until John Butler apparently convinced him that Billy Joe was a fine young man. That dog didn't hunt either.

By the way, I think #10 on that list was really the '95 playoffs. Thurman and Timmy Tindale were the ones who racked up all that yardage. Didn't we run for like 300 yards? If I recall right it was 24-0 almost before Miami got the ball. Ah those were the days.

Great list! How about a couple more: 11- Bills smoking Miami 44-34 (it was 44-20 before Marino got two garbage-time TDs) in the 1990 playoffs. That was the game where Tim McKyer said "I challenge Jim Kelly to throw at me," and not two minutes into the game Kelly hit Lofton over McKyer for the first score. 12- Bills beating the hell out of the Chiefs in the 1991 playoffs, with Scott Norwood kicking a late FG to make it 37-14, then dismissively doing the Tomahawk Chop motion to mock the KC fans 13- The fourth AFC title game, against KC, knocking Montana out of the game, Thurman running for 186 and 3 scores, "Piss 'Em Off and Go For Four," "R-E-S-P-E-C-T" and "Georgia On My Mind" blaring from the loudspeakers as the game ended 14- The game the week before that, against the Raiders in -30 windchill. "JUST FREEZE, BABY" 15- Buffalo beating Miami (I can't remember the specific game, there were so many) after Louis Oliver had run his mouth all week, and then Steve Tasker saying after the game, "Don't write a check with your mouth that your body can't cash."

I've had the audio for that show for awhile but I'm sure the tapes are starting to deteriorate. You wouldn't happen to have it on CD?

Mentioning Darick Holmes, Shawn Bryson and Sammy Morris in the same category as Willis McGahee? Gee, you forgot Jonathan Linton. And Antowain Smith had a few good runs here and there, but come on. Willis has shown me more in three games than A-Strain did in three years here. And I wouldn't say Henry "never panned out." He was good, damn good. Willis is better.

I have been to the Jacksonville, Miami and Jets games this year and there was definitely a difference this past Sunday. You didn't have any stupid assclowns doing the wave this time, for instance, let alone WHEN WE HAD THE BALL like against Jacksonville.

I don't give a rat's ass about the playoffs. I care about this Sunday. Take care of business and the playoffs take care of themselves.

Ditch Fiedler at the end of the season. They will never go any damn place with him as their quarterback and for some reason he seems to be bad luck for any QB they bring in to "replace" him. They need to start anew at that position without Jay's big ears hovering in the background like the Cheshire Cat's grin.

I flew from Martha's Vineyard to Logan in a 10-seat Cessna in heavy fog. It was basically white outside the windows for the entire 30 minute flight. Didn't see the ground from after about 100 feet above MV until we broke through clouds above the channel at the end of Logan's north-south runway. Given where we were flying from and the weather conditions, I'd be lying if I said the words "JFK Jr." didn't cross my mind. But I figured we had a better pilot. I sat next to the pilot and monitored the gauges the entire time. Altimeter holding steady at 3,000, yup, we're flying level, yup, got enough gas, yup, pilot's awake, yup... strangely I felt better on that flight than I would have if I'd been in a larger plane and unable to see what was going on in the cockpit. Like someone said in an earlier post, flying in one of those little jobs gives you a sense of perspective. I never worried about flying regional jets or even regular propjobs after that.
