The problem is, of course, that WE told the league several years ago that we didn't want any prime-time games at home anymore, because we have a regional audience and it's too far of a drive late at night for about a quarter of the fans, plus we had some problems with drunken idiots (imagine that). This was back when the league still WANTED us on prime-time.

That's EXACTLY right. What they are doing to us now is what we did to Miami for about 10 years after they owned us in the '70s and early '80s. We used to bitchslap Miami all over the field -- Levy 17-5 against Shula, remember -- and laugh about it. Some days we'd run them into the ground; other days we'd pass all over them. Some days we'd rout them and other days we'd pull a win out of our ass just because we felt like it. On rare occasions they'd hand us our asses (37-10 in 1990, remember) but then we'd kick the crap out of them the next five games in a row. This is exactly what it felt like to be a Miami fan back then. With one critical difference: Miami was beating everyone else but just couldn't beat us. WE can't beat anybody but ourselves.

The announcers are idiots. How about in the first quarter when one of them said, "Mularkey did a great job in Pittsburgh getting the ball to Hines Ward. He has to do that with Eric Moulds here, they just have to get the ball to Moulds and make things happen." ON THE VERY NEXT PLAY Rodney Harrison stepped in front of Moulds and would have taken it to the house if he hadn't dropped it. Then one of the announcers said, "That's what happens when you keep going to Eric Moulds all the time."

I wish I could turn this off and go to bed. But I don't quit. I don't know why I don't, because this fvcking team sure does.
