It looks like some people are actually taking this thread seriously. Good job, Eric!

How long until local TV pulls the plug?
BRH replied to 4everBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love how Syracuse people like to think they're closer to NYC than Buffalo. Or is it just all the people from Lawnguyland who go to SU that influence this? The Bills should be Syracuse's team, period. -
Think of the all-star team you could compile of former Expos who reached greater heights elsewhere. C - Gary Carter 1B - Andres Galarraga 2B - Delino DeShields SS - Orlando Cabrera 3B - OF - Larry Walker OF - Marquis Grissom OF - Vladimir Guerrero Bench - Moises Alou, Milton Bradley, Cliff Floyd, Rondell White, Mark Grudzielanek SP - Pedro Martinez SP - Randy Johnson SP - Javier Vazquez SP - Bartolo Colon SP - Carl Pavano RP - John Wetteland RP - Ugueth Urbina Can't really think of a third baseman offhand, but with that lineup (and pitching staff) does it matter? Remember, this isn't an all-time Expo team. This is a team of the Ones That Got Away. And many of them (by no means all) got away because the Expos just couldn't afford them.

Oh God all the good lines have already been taken. *** "Faire pee-pee, eh?" "No no, I okay." *** "I'm listening to the #*$@ing SONG!" *** "'Allo, Bernard? I want to echanger. How you say echanger?" "Trade me right #*$%ing now." "Trade me right #*$%ing now!" "And hang up." [hangs up] [phone rings] [brightly] "'Allo?" *** "Hey, Hanrahan! Suzanne sucks #$*%y! I know! She told me!" *** Ah man. What a movie.

Anyone know of a great band to play @ a wedding?
BRH replied to BILLS02138's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We had Gap Mangione and his band play at our wedding. I suppose it was too much to hope for Chuck to show up unannounced with his flugelhorn, but it was a blast nonetheless; Gap had a great time since my wife's family is Italian. And my best man, a reasonably accomplished jazz sax player, got to sit in with the band for a few songs. It beat hearing "Brick House," "YMCA," and "We Are Family." Who you get necessarily depends on your budget and your audience. If you don't have a lot to drop on music and the audience is relatively young, get a DJ. If you get a band, make sure you get a chance to hear them at a wedding or two before you sign the contract. And think about how the band's appearance will go over with older guests if you have them. I'm good friends with Jamie Notarthomas out of Syracuse and love his music, but I couldn't ask a bearded, tie-dyed dude reeking of the ganja to play our wedding. (He hates playing weddings anyway so I doubt he'd be offended.) -

Is Duke Jupiter still around? They could play "You Gotta Love The Wrong Ones" for the bride-groom dance! -
Not possible. Nobody is more annoying than a Yankee fan.

I don't have time to do the research, but how many times has LaRussa taken a team to the playoffs without winning the World Series, or even making it? If I recall right, he's taken the Cardinals to the playoffs four times already without a WS appearance. He took the White Sox to the ALCS in 1983 and lost to Baltimore. He did have four playoff teams in Oakland that resulted in three pennants -- but only one title, when most people feel that 1988-90 squad had the talent to win all three Series. Yet they got punked in both 1988 and 1990, winning only one game. By my count LaRussa has three pennant winners and one Series champ out of nine playoff teams. And those three pennant winners came from an absolute juggernaut of a squad. The offense had Mark McGwire, Jose Canseco, Carney Lansford, Rickey Henderson, Dave Parker and Dave Henderson, while the pitching staff was anchored by Dave Stewart, Mike Moore and Bob Welch plus it had a Hall of Fame closer in Dennis Eckersley. I'm pulling for the Cardinals, BF -- but before you start comparing them to the Yanks and Red Sox, you'd better take a closer look at how they stack up against the Braves, Dodgers, Giants and/or Cubs. I'd be nervous knowing that LaRussa has had four shots with the Cardinals already and hasn't been able to close the deal.

How is it watching a game in the Jim Kelly Club?

I should add that, as Dave implies, when you're at a BILLS GAME there isn't a bad seat in the house! -

I sat in one of the boxes in the JK club on opening day; that was my first experience. I liked the free food and beer, but * if you don't get there early enough, you may find yourself sitting behind two layers of not-so-clean glass (the windows slide open from the middle of the box, and if you sit on the left or right side, you're screwed); * the first row of the box is really low and the people sitting in the last row of the club seats block your view, especially if they're tall or have really big heads; * you're underneath an overhang and unless you sit near the front of the club seats (the red seats in front of the boxes) you can't see the JumboTron, although there are plenty of closed-circuit TVs to show replays (and if you're in the box, they show the live NBC feed on one of the tvs); * because you're under the overhang, the crowd sound isn't nearly as loud, so you don't feel as much a part of the game -- but the advantage is that if the sun is unbearable or it's raining, you're better-protected; * the food in the club area is excellent and the lines are shorter. The bathrooms are also cleaner and have real urinals instead of horse troughs, and nobody pisses in the sink. All in all, I prefer the end zone seats. -
Hurricanes aside... I never feel sorry for Miami!

Yep, Talley mugged Ernest Givens over the middle and when Moon threw to where Givens would have been if he hadn't been held, only Nate Odomes was there. That kind of stuff happens all the time, though. It's not like Odomes dropped the ball and the ref said "Just give it to 'em," or the league made up some phantom memo about a double-secret rule that allowed Beebe to go out of bounds in that particular circumstance.

Manny drives it off the top of the wall in the bottom of the eighth to make it 6-5. Bases loaded for the Sox, new pitcher coming in. -

Um it's 5-3 Sox now, still batting in the fifth. What happened to the regular updates? -
Officials Blow 3 Calls Cost Bills 12 points/win
BRH replied to BuffaloBorn1960's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd like to care but I don't. The larger point is that the Bills played like stevestojan on Sunday, and a crappy team has no right to whine about bad calls. I'll B word about No Goal until the day I die, but last Sunday we deserved to lose, and we did. -
[OT]Why do people drive like a$$holes!

This phenomenon is caused, of course, by the five cars who speed through the intersection coming the other way just as the light is turning red. -

Bulldog's reading the Wall, of course. Someone mentioned this (Fletcher kicking the ball twice) here yesterday. I forget who. Yo Bulldog. What up. -
Ditto here, although I can't really say Scott beat me to setting up the site. I'm not really sure how we all migrated over here. Probably someone posted on the old site and said hey we're over here now. Gad that was like 1997 or so.

You're right! He blows goats. We need to get somebody else in there stat.

BRH replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ritcher and Hull are on the Wall for a reason, and outside of Dermontti Dawson, Hull was the best center in the league for about a decade. You also forgot to mention that turncoat Wolford. He was only a Pro Bowler for a while. Those guys were good. But like I (and DCSabres) said, Jimbo made them better because he demanded it. -
Nice try.
