  1. The part that thinks "hey, I could make a lot of money if I set up camp right here at the mouth of the country's biggest river with convenient shipping lanes from here to the ends of the earth." That's how New Orleans got built where it was in the first place. By the time people realized the danger, it was too late. You can't just relocate an entire city. Well, NOW you can, because you have to...
  2. There's a line in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" referencing Coldplay in a similar manner.
  3. And when he ends up not having one? Where are you then?
  4. Why not? If Deion did it, a lot of people could have. The Burger King, the guy down the street, my grandmother...
  5. GIT 'ER DONE!
  6. That's exactly what JP and I both say. And do.
  7. Scott's on a roll!
  8. Well, they're not gonna be playing football on the damn roof, are they? As long as the field is playable and the structure itself is safe (i.e. all the loose metal is secured), I say they go ahead and play.
  9. I think they know his eyes are worse than he wants to let on.
  10. Glad you're okay, Aussiew!
  11. My guess is "outside."
  12. I think we already answered that somewhere else. They could play at Ole Miss or any of the Louisiana stadiums that aren't significantly damaged. LSU will have to look for a new stadium too since they play at the Superdome as well, don't they? One thought might be the Astrodome, although I don't know how the Texans would feel about that.
  13. Check out the NOLA.com blog. Ugly, ugly stuff, and it's only just starting. Whitecaps in the street. Christ.
  14. Looks like he read your post and changed his story.
  15. And Hutch goes by the wayside along with Chris Weinke, Josh Booty, Drew Henson, and everyone else who thought that once they couldn't cut it in baseball, they could still be an NFL quarterback.
  16. Steve Baker? I thought for sure his thirty-yard line drives would keep him on the team.
  17. CNN just interviewed someone from there who said it was at 902 now
  18. They just said that while it's easily comparable in strength to Camille, it's much larger and will cut a much larger swath of devastation along the landfall area. Also that it will continue to be a hurricane as far north as Tupelo... which means Memphis is going to get whacked hard too, probably. I really wish CBB and his family would get out. No point in riding this out even if you're not IN New Orleans.
  19. What's going to happen to New Orleans if this thing doesn't veer is pretty much incomprehensible, but this article (long but worthwhile) puts it into frightening perspective.
  20. The other thing is that this 'cane is heading straight up the Mississippi after it hits. Means even more flooding downstream.
  21. Houma (where he lists his location) is about halfway between Morgan City and New Orleans. Hopefully it is well outside the "bowl".
  22. Good luck, CBB, you have our prayers. You're not in N.O. proper, I take it?
  23. Yep. Everyone's buried aboveground in NO because the water table is too high for inground burials. Gonna be a lot of floating bones and caskets in addition to the raw sewage and poisonous snakes, etc. Ugly ugly ugly
  24. All Darwin winners are posthumous.
  25. I'd pay to hear that.
