  1. Nobody's correcting this? The Bills lost 52-17. 52 - 17 ___ 35 Had they lost 59-17, THAT would have been a 42-point loss. Jeesh I'm almost about to look up the score just to make sure. I was wasted that night, but I remember THAT.
  2. In what mathematical discipline does 42 exceed 45?
  3. I heard he changes his birthdate every year, though.
  4. I come here when I need a break from the idiots. Hair of the dog, you know.
  5. And who are the two people at work who said they never check at work?
  6. Even you would have to admit that no team gets more calls than the Loafs at home, unless it's the Canadiens at home.
  7. Sundin played last night, didn't he? Or do you think Lindros is better than Sundin? This ain't 1994.
  8. I was there in 1992 and have heard it's quite a bit more westernized now, although still less expensive than, say, Vienna. And the reason you go there instead of Paris is because it costs a whole hell of a lot less... although I'd rather see Jim Morrison's grave than Kafka's. I really, really liked Prague. Gorgeous city. Liked it better than Budapest. Definitely try to see Krakow, though.
  9. Amen. And I love how people who say Ralph is cheap then turn around and B word about the team raising the LOWEST ticket prices in the NFL by a few bucks. Not only that, but if Ralph was truly cheap the Bills would have been gone a good goddamn long time ago.
  10. The first time I ever went there, I met the woman who would become my wife. The second time I went there, I proposed to her. The third time I went, we had our engagement photos taken. I kind of like that place.
  11. The Oilers complained about McKee's hit last week and that one was as clean as a whistle. I don't have a problem with the big hipcheck, especially on the open ice -- far too few players use it these days -- but he had Connolly up against the boards already and could have delivered an equally big, higher hit with the shoulder. Of course, had he done that he probably would have thrown the elbow too. That said, it was great to see Drury go after that douchebag.
  12. Been here 35 years, went once (fourth grade field trip). Oh I was there one other time for a reception but I didn't walk through the galleries. How long it takes you will be a function of how into art you are.
  13. A Cliffs Notes of the Cliffs Notes: 1. Sully is an attention whore and Sherman would have fed that beast. 2. Marv would have been undercut by Sherman's GM experience. 3. Jauron will be okay if Marv delegates and Ralph doesn't meddle.
  14. Well, I can make a hat...or a brooch...or a pterodactyl... What? Anyway, I agree with buftex. Even though Marv wasn't the coach here when Haz played, he knows that Haz and Freddy are the best of friends and he may have decided he didn't need the aggravation of Freddy possibly being Haz's mouthpiece every time something went wrong. Plus there was the whole Hull thing. Although Hull may not have shown it, I'm sure he was royally pissed at Haslett. Plus, the media would have used it to stir up stojan whenever things were slow. And Marv is loyal to his guys.
  15. Shhhh, Kelly! Reason has no place on this board.
  16. Just as long as we don't sign Fiedler, I'm fine with that.
  17. Well, he did run the single wing. That was entertaining, at the very least. And although my reaction was partly "Marv Who?" it was a lot more of "thank GOD that buffoon Bullough's gone."
  18. Since Levy has a Harvard degree and Jauron is a Yale man, why not get Jason Garrett to run the offense? Not as much of a joke as you'd think. Garrett is a future OC in this league, his father and brothers have both been NFL assistants, and as QB coach of the Dolphins he did a hell of a lot more with Sage Rosenfels and Gus Frerotte than our guys did with JP. Plus with MM going to Miami, Garrett may be available. But yeah, I'd rather have a proven OC like Caldwell.
  19. I was in college in New Jersey surrounded by Giants fans, or at least by people who were Giants fans at the time. Besides me, there were two other Bills fans at my club watching the game with me: one from Orchard Park (his parents actually lived on Jim Kelly's street) and the other from Schenectady. There were several rows of couches in the TV room; we took up one of them. The first half is a blur, the second half almost nonexistent in my mind. I remember Kelly dropping the shotgun snap and finding Lofton. I remember the Raiders calling timeout on the first drive. The only other thing I remember is, when the teams trotted off the field at halftime and it was 41-3, I turned to the guy from OP sitting next to me and this was our entire exchange: ME: "I think we're going to the Super Bowl." HIM: "I think we are." We didn't say anything more. Just sat there with these huge stupid dazed grins pasted on our faces for the rest of halftime, and probably the rest of the game. The only AFC championship I was able to attend in person was the fourth one, against KC. That was almost as glorious, but by then the innocence was gone.
  20. Look, it's not rocket science. Lofton was a BIG part of our SB runs and neither Marv nor Ralph forgot that, as old as they are. They need to interview a minority candidate to satisfy the Rooney Rule, and they don't want to insult Rivera or (certainly) Cottrell by bringing them in and dinging them. Those guys are already legitimate HC candidates and deserve a better shot than that. But bringing in Lofton both satisfies the Rooney Rule AND rewards James for his years of service here by getting his name out there and giving him HC interview experience. I'm sure James knows the drill and is fine with it. HE may even feel that he owes the Bills that much for resurrecting his career.
  21. Think about it, though. In order to ripen on a coaching tree, the assistant fruit has to be relatively young. Most of Marv's assistants had been around the block, in some cases several times. For much of his time in Buffalo, Marv had Ted Marchibroda and Walt Corey as his OC and DC; those guys were born old. Henning and Phillips had already been HCs when they came onboard, too. Belichick, Cowher, Parcells, all those guys tended to hire younger assistants. You can look at it as though they're better groomers than Marv, or you can look at it as though Marv isn't intimidated by hiring his peers as assistants. I don't think Joe Gibbs has much of a coaching tree, either, come to think of it. Unless you think Joe Bugel counts.
  22. I hear they're all good teachers, too.
  23. You've been around this board long enough to know that's EXACTLY how it works.
  24. What the hell are you talking about? How many Ivy-educated coaches did Marv have on his staff with the Bills? Oh I forgot Chuck Dickerson went to Wharton and Yale Law.
