I only remembered it at lunchtime myself too. I was about to tell some guy, "hey, you got some stojan there on your forehead" when I remembered.

I really can't see spending that kind of jack on a roof that would be deployed, what, once every five or six years? You better believe that if there's a retractable roof it'll be unretracted most of the time. The club seat holders and box owners will demand nothing less.

A downtown stadium would rob Bills games of one of the greatest things about going to them: tailgating. Ever been to a game in a downtown stadium? There's hardly any damn place to park, let alone tailgate. And if a new stadium is to be built, it should be built closer to Rochester anyway.

I saw him twice on the D&D tour and there were some real gems... "Sandy," "Nebraska" and "State Trooper" in Buffalo; "Independence Day," "My Father's House," and "Racing In The Streets" in Rochester. I'm not a huge fan of the album, actually, but it was worth going to the shows just to hear his "Nebraska," "River," and "Darkness" stuff especially. Given the choice? I'll take him with the E Street Band over solo any day. But I'll take him solo over no tour any day, too.

I didn't hate law school, but not a day goes by that I wish I WAS still back there. Far better, as far as I'm concerned, to be on THIS side of the bar exam instead of THAT side. I practiced with fairly large firms for four years after graduating; the fact that I got good grades, made law review, etc. pretty much locked me into at least trying that life out. I've been in legal publishing for three years since then and like this much better. I travel more than I did when I practiced, and yet have better hours and spend more time with my family. I have more influence across the office and company, I'm involved in a much wider range of things (including sales, marketing & development), etc. etc. I even have a nicer office view The only thing that was better on the other side of the fence was the money. When I was a 1L I had no idea I would be where I am now. I'm not sure I could have even planned for it, or even if it would have been what I wanted back then. Like John Lennon said, life is what happens to you while you're making other plans.

Guy also apparently had a heart attack from the shot that lodged in his heart. How this squares with the initial story that "some pellets broke the skin" is beyond me. But not to worry. It's a minor heart attack. Like the five Cheney's had...

Exempt employees here, like me, get unlimited sick days. I use 'em when I'm sick, which isn't often. I get three personal days and two weeks of vacation, use it or lose it (after five years it turns into three weeks of vacation, and you can roll it over). In my opinion, giving a set number of sick days just encourages people to use them all unless you can roll them over. Here we're even encouraged to use all of our vacation/personal time if we can't roll it over. Fine by me.

As far as I am concerned, karma is a B word. Still think that was a "good goal," Wayne?

Harvard and Yale don't impress me either. Princeton, on the other hand... In all seriousness, I'm not impressed when ANYONE tells me in casual conversation where they went to school, nor do I expect anyone to be impressed when I tell them where I went. People who need to constantly bring up where they went to school (or what kind of car they drive, or how much their house is worth, or how much tail they get, or how many people they supervise at work) have serious insecurity issues. Education is what you make of it. It's possible to go almost ANYWHERE and get a great education. About the most I will grant is that at an Ivy or similar school, it's probably more difficult to graduate WITHOUT getting an education. Incidentally, when people ask me what professor I learned the most from in college, I usually answer "Pete Carril," and (1) I wasn't even on the basketball team and (2) HE doesn't even have an Ivy degree.

Not sure about that. McGrattan turtled up and shook his head just as Peters was winding up for another shot; Peters noticed it and pointed at McGrattan to tell the refs he was hurt. I'm betting orbital myself. The announcers said they saw him in the dressing room and he had a golf ball under his eye. Plus, you don't quit a fight over a busted nose. An orbital, that's a different story. Great great win. Huge confidence builder for Miller, Vanek and the entire team.
