BREAKING NEWS Updated: 1:35 p.m. ET Sept. 2, 2005 NEW ORLEANS - A huge oil spill was spotted near two storage tanks on the Mississippi River downstream from New Orleans, state officials said Friday. The oil was seen in a flyover to the Venice area by the Department of Environmental Quality. “Two tanks with the capacity of holding 2 million barrels appear to be leaking,” the department said in a statement.

I thought so too, until the RNC started selling pictures of W "managing" the crisis to donors before the bodies of the 9/11 victims were even cold. To accuse only the Democrats of playing politics with national disaster is to have the world's biggest set of blinders on. At BEST both sides are equally guilty.

Is that right? Did they have to completely evacuate a city of 469,000 people that sits below sea level and is one of the nation's most important commercial ports? Biloxi has 48,000 people. Gulfport, 71,000. Maybe Katrina hit them more directly than it did New Orleans, but I hope you're not saying that it had a bigger impact on them than it did on N.O.

Why not? Just stretch a tarp over that stupid hole-in-the-roof-so-God-can-watch-his-favorite-team that they have. Problem solved.
