  1. It ain't cheating if you don't get caught. Got it.
  2. I expect that guy to get a nice check in the mail soon from Bob Kraft.
  3. That would be my first guess too. And if it was a different team with no history of cheating, I'm sure that's what they would have already done. But this is, I think, already beyond the league's control.
  4. I listened too. He said they would have been...but he didn't know for a fact that they were.
  5. You know this for a fact or just talking out of your ass? Always amazes me how many scientists and lawyers we have on this board. The league also inspected the Colts' footballs, which also sat outside for the same amount of time, and all were within parameters. Yet 11 of 12 Patriot footballs were "significantly underinflated."
  6. So if the OL coach can have the "Ass't HC" title, what do you think the offensive coordinator is going to ask for? And does this mean he outranks the OC? I can only imagine how that will go with the new OC. "Doug, here's the game plan, we'll need the line to do this and this." "Uh yeah we'll get right on that."
  7. Well, I live two blocks from camp, so... No. And yes, it is all about me.
  8. Beat me to it! Better visual than the tech guy at the Mario PC at least.
  9. I'm reading this thread and thinking about the folks here who said Rex was the wrong hire because he's not a "Buffalo Guy." I hope Russ washed the smell of the Shanahans off his suit before going out.
  10. This. A thousand times this.
  11. What needs to happen is this: the next guy selected for inclusion on the Wall says "thanks, but no thanks. I don't want my name up there next to that guy's." Better yet, a group of current Wallers -- preferably led by Jimbo, Bruce, Thurman, etc -- goes to Pegs and says "take it down, or take ours down." I grew up watching OJ and supported leaving his name up for years. I feel differently now. It's time.
  12. Except I doubt Marrone would ever be welcome back here.
  13. I agree that he didn't care what those guys were saying. I think he DID care that Marrone thought he could sabotage the organization on his way out by using him as a pawn.
  14. Here's what I really don't get. What incentive would the Old Guard have to bash Polian in 2014, either to Marrone or in his presence? And if they did, assuming Polian was being offered a position with real power, why would he care? He'd just come in and clean house. More than that, he wouldn't need Marrone to tell him what those guys were saying. He'd already know it. Polian is big on loyalty. Even after Ralph fired him, he finished out the season and left quietly, without badmouthing his colleagues or even Ralph. And he never did anything to hurt his old teams after he left. When Marrone trashed the organization to him after leaving, you know that didn't sit well with as old-school a guy as Polian. I'm on board with this theory. Marrone better invest that $4M well.
  15. I kind of feel like these interviews are not only for the HC job but also for OC and (if Schwartz leaves) DC. They might even be lining up certain guys now after hearing a HC candidate say he planned to bring them on as coordinators if he got the job. They can't get permission to interview some OCs and DCs unless it's for a higher level job, so this is a way around it. And as long as they do it thoroughly, professionally and cordially, it's a great strategy. Also, as others have pointed out, it's a great way to get as much feedback on your organization as possible, and to find out what else might be out there. And what I love is no one's turned us down that I can think of (for HC, that is; I'm not talking about Polian). If nothing else, they all want to see what's here... whereas in the old days, they knew exactly what was here (Ralph and the Old Guard) and many didn't want it.
  16. I think people are way too hung up on this. Jerry Hughes is going to be Jerry Hughes whether he has a hand down or not. And great defensive coaches can coach any scheme.
  17. No - I think he wants to be a head coach (and not a DC) and there are only so many opportunities out there right now. If he doesn't get one of those gigs, then he'll have broadcasting as an option.
  18. I hated this guy when he was with the Jets; made fun of him constantly, etc. But you know what? I want him coaching my football team. I haven't read the whole thread but Rex Ryan is the whole package to me. The star power of a Shanahan or Cowher, the ability to intimidate the refs (that is no small thing in this league), he almost never passes blame up or throws players under the bus (which is why his players love him and why he lasted that long in NJ), AND he knows a shitload about coaching football. Plus he's pissed at the Jets and hates the Patriots. Sign me up.
  19. When I read "sources," I think OBD. Sometimes I think it's Brandon who's the leak. He stood to gain the most from Polian not coming to Buffalo.
  20. Just have a feeling he's using us for leverage with the Niners. The Niners don't mind either - this way they can say they weren't the only team crazy enough to consider hiring him. The worst thing tho would be if Shanny comes out and says he doesn't have an interview with Buffalo. Because that would be the second incorrect PR-motivated leak out of OBD in a week.
  21. No. If they told him he was getting fired, they would have owed him $8M, not $4M. Marrone may be a proud man, but he wouldn't walk away from $4M just to say he wasn't fired. I think it went more like this: Marrone asked for more control. Pegula said nah. So he asked for extensions for himself and his assistants. Pegula said nah. Marrone said then maybe you should fire me. Pegula said nah. So Marrone walked. When Marrone realized what he'd done - left an extra $4M on the table - and further realized that no one was really missing him ... that's when he decided to rip the organization and get his pound of flesh. This will hurt him. Owners have long memories and many connections.
  22. I would stay away from the fruit of the Belichick tree. What have his minions ever won? Once they get out of NE they find out how hard this job is when you're not cheating.
  23. The only problem is, because it looks so chaotic, it could create a snowball effect that scares away other good coaching candidates.
  24. If this means Brandon is staying, then why would we expect the next 15 years to be different from the last 15?
