Ravens @ Bengals - Game thread

It was always foolish to write off the underdogs in these divisional matchups. -

As dangerous as blitzing can be it’s a tool we’ll need, much like Miami got the huge play on the defensive TD. Was glad to see Milano doing work in the pass rush today. -

We absolutely need pressure on Burrow. The Bengals WRs will get their yardage no matter what so you mitigate it with turnovers. -
I wish I could understand why Playoff Gabe cant be Regular Season Gabe, too, because then we wouldn't need one. But I agree with you.

Shakir will be huge going into next year. We need impact players on rookie contracts.

Season end, how good are the Bills really?

Bills Mafia! The relentless crowd made the play on the 4th and 1 delay of game. -

Easily the most offensive part of this is "everyone once a response". -

I get that, but this is reading between the lines of what he actually said. Is it a fair reading? Perhaps. EDIT: Ok, I just re-read it. It is a pretty blatant call out. Still, it probably reflects the attitude of the Baltimore locker room well. -

It's funny how NFL fans say that they hate the schlocky meaningless media talk that players and coaches do 99% of the time. But then when a player earnestly speaks their mind, and not even in a cruel way, people clutch at their pearls. I'm no fan of Sammy Watkins but all he's saying is that his team is in the playoffs and he wishes their only chance of winning was on the field. -

Lamar is also losing bags of money if he goes out there cold at 70% physical capacity and has a really bad game. Right now the prevailing narrative is that the Ravens were serious contenders who have swan-dived after he wasn’t on the field. -
Fox News- Josh Allen's spiritual awakening
SageAgainstTheMachine replied to Returntoglory's topic in Off the Wall
Yeah, I definitely think that prayer is benevolent for those doing the praying. I don't have a specific faith but I was definitely saying and thinking "Just let him be ok" that night, even if it was to nobody in particular. The thing that gets me is implying that the prayer worked because the outcome was good. That necessarily means that when the outcome is bad, the prayer didn't work. To me it's a strange way of looking at a world where terrible undeserved things happen every day, that the victims of those things don't have enough cosmic energy on their side or something while others get helped. -

So when someone has a cardiac arrest and doesn’t make it, is it in part because there wasn’t enough prayer? -

I think we give altogether too much credence to the 13 seconds game. Giving up 42 points was an outlier and just credit to Mahomes on a great game. We've played other games against good offenses where the defense did step up and hold them to 20-something. -
Ravens are in an unenviable position. They could be hitching their wagon to a guy who can get a team to the playoffs but not through the playoffs, not to mention a runner with inchoate knee issues. On the other hand he wins games and entertains the fans as a transcendent athlete and the fact is that it's risky to not have a plan at QB. You never know when you'll get sucked into a vortex of mediocrity. Look what's happened to Indy after Luck retired.

I think this board is going to be pretty unreadable if we win by fewer than 3 TDs. -

If the opposing team got within 7 in a playoff game, you wouldn't be sitting your starters anymore. -
The Wall of Fame - been a while...

I think it's fine that not many drought era players should be remembered in such a way. I feel we're experiencing a weird nostalgia for those days now (lower expecations, more fun?) but it was miserable. That said, the greatest player of that generation was Kyle Williams and his face is also the enduring image of the drought being broken so he belongs.
