The NFL product as a whole- where do you rank it?
High Mark replied to LongLiveRalph's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To aswer your question, its on the decline to me. Too much kitty ass calls like Suggs falling near Brady and a penalty. The tuck rule. No one is allowed to lay big hits anymore. Any sholder with whiplash hit is considered helmet to helmet. Pass interference with the slightest touching. Guys like Bruce would have been called for 1000 roughing the passer penalties. Guys like Kelly and Reed would have doubled their yards because of the lack of contact allowed in todays game. Its half way to pro wrestling and it doesnt look like they are correcting this trend. Secondly, I hate watching the same offense run by every team agaisnt the same defenses run by every team. I prefer the college game because I can watch ND run a pro offense, Texas run the spread, Florida run a spread/single wing hybrid, GT run the Flexbone option, etc etc etc. The only prob in the college game is a team like USC can play Grambling state and no one wants to watch that blowout. In that sense its hard to follow one college team, like the way I follow the Bills, because they may only play 3-4 good opponents each year. But just enjoying a great college matchup blows an NFL game away IMO. -
Yet Rex Ryan knew how good he was and made him a high prority this off season. The Ravens have a lot of great D talent and could afford to lose him in football terms and not afford to keep him as far as salary cap goes. Either way Id rather have him over Wilson/Scott/Byrd. He was one of the best playmakers on the team when he was on Buffalo. Not a great athlete, just a good football player always making plays.

It's Early - but since most of the people on this board

Okung, Suh, Dunlop, Bradford Four solid players teh Bills could use. Add in the Mays/Berry guys and I think we have a good shot at an all star. If its up to me I focus on the lines, mainly because no QB could pass with our protection and no offense can score enough points with our D allowing that many rushing yards. -
Please God add a veteran player who knows how to WIN. We have three players on the roster who have started a playoff game. THREE. That is just inconcievable. Only worth it if he signs a long term deal prior to the trade, and as dumb as Oakland is they may take less than a 2nd, more like a Stroud esq. 3rd and 5th. This would also put us in a great position to switch to a 3-4 in 2010. We would just need a true NT and LB (Merriman cough cough)

Could we potentially get both Shannahan's?
High Mark replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mike Shannahan Kyle Shannahan AND John Gruden Sign me up for that offense. -
On a side note, Miami adds another celeb owner in....Ferrgie? What gives? I thought there was a rule agaisnt public ownership? How many owners is a team allowed to have? I believe there are roughly 55,000 season ticket holders. Well, a 900 million dollar team divided by 55,000 season ticket holders is about $16,400. Lets pony up Bills fans.

IF Ralph understands economics, he would know that you have to spend (invest) moeny to make (winning team/winning coach) money. If Jauron is retained there is no way Ralph makes a profit in 2010.

Bills sign two Ex Rams, who couldn't play there?
High Mark replied to billsfreak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Derrick Brooks is a FA and Derrick Johnson is on the trading block. If what you say about Draft is true then yes he is a good signing, but there is no reason we shouldnt add one or both of the Derricks as well. -
Leinart has 16 NFL starts spread across two seasons and hasnt been able to beat out a future HOF QB in Warner who just had the Cards in the SB. I wouldnt call Leinart a bust just yet.

For the same reason they traded Edwards....and Winslow.... and their top 5 pick..... No one knows.

Bradford, Suh, Okung QB, DT, OT Lets hope for top three and land one of these guys.

Thurman Thomas' Wood Carving Stolen!
High Mark replied to zdro22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Man, if I saw that in a parking lot, I would have thought it was left there on purpose and free for the taking? Somewhere, someone has one sweet conversation starter. -
I agree with his assesment. Tony Pike at #2 seems high - I dont think of him as an NFL QB. Bradford is the top of the pack but with OKs running game last year he never had to carry the O. This season he has been injured. The Red River Shootout Sat will be a game to watch. The problem is though the Rams will be drafting Bradford before us in all likelihood which leaves us with sh*t as far as QBs go. Take a flyer on Tebow in the third if thats what we have to work with, sign garcia or some vet with a decent pedigree for the immediate future. Tebow, if given the chance to totally rework his throwing motion ala Aaron Rogers, and learn for 3ish years just like Rogers, has more than enough arm strength, accuracy, inteligence, and will to be one hell of a QB. I mean really, people talk about potential with draft picks. What QB has more potential than Tebow? None. We drafted projects in Maybin, McKelvin, Hardy, and love project guys like Bell why not another project in Tebow? The only problem is we cant wait 3 years for a new QB. So bring in a solid vet for the time being, build up the OL and front 7, and we will have a solid playoff fringe team by the time Tebow steps in. I think that may be the best scenario when looking at this QB class. PS I dont think Locker enters teh draft.

I am all for stocking up on QBs and having Gruden licking his chops like a kid in a candy store at an opportunity to decide who gets to start. BTW, the way the Browns are unloading talent give them a 5th and a couple of kicking tees and thats good value for Quinn.

I have been saying the Bills should trade for DJ since week one when Poz went down. If the Bills were a competant org. they would have traded for him BEFORE the Buggs and Mitchell injuies. Dont hold you breath for anything. I was also waiting for a Tony Ugoh trade. He was bench in Indy but was starting Sunday night after an injury. He was a good option at LT but I dont think so anymore. Trade for DJ before the Chiefs have an injury and he finds himself starting again...

If we continue to stink and TE is not the guy
High Mark replied to PNW_Bills_Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Locker is a better NFL QB option than McCoy, Snead, and others. To me its him or Bradford at this point. I havent seen enough from either to make me want to use our high first rounder on them however. We need some serious line help first. -
Bills should sign Jeff Garcia and Andrew Walter
High Mark replied to RLflutie7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Andrew Walter? QB of the future? Why not guys like Quinn or Brohm who were actually good at one point of their careers? Garcia whould have been signed as the vet backup a long time ago, like 2008. -
We could punt on first down
-
The only reason TO came to Buffalo was because it was that or the UFL. Not even Oakland wanted TO. Now someone if going to trade for him for 11 or less games? Give me a break.
-
It DOES NOT MATTER who we sign, because they will not start. We might as well sign some LBs from Orchard Parks high school team. Ellison? Are you kidding me? He sucks he sucks he sucks. He was worse than both Corto AND Palmer yesterday, yet STILL he has not been replaced. The injureies dont matter, how can a starting LB be outplayed by an undrafted rookie and a local fan who tried out for the team ala Mark Walburg? Our best LB, Harris, has yet to play. This team is SO MUCH WORSE than we think. This could all change with a coaching change, yet ......NOTHING!

Another reason trent isn't an NFL qb
High Mark replied to berndogg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Edwards makes his reads pre snap. He didnt used to do this, but does now. Edwards sucks thanks to Dick. Ditch them both. -
Yea, the 10ish 3rd down drops helped this D look a lot better than they played. Either way whats it matter. if our D holds them to 6 we still lose.
-
I wouldnt call it poor drafting. I would say Fewell/Jauron and Modrack have different views of who is good and who is not. I cannot trust either of their views because they are both clowns IMO. I can tell you however that Ellison was STILL the worst LB on the field Sunday being outplayed by both Corto and Palmer. Harris is just another Jackson, Greer, Jim Leonard, Marrio Haggen who the coaches wont play but is actually a very talented player. Therefore I have to believe that Modrack>Fewell/Jauron, even if ever so slightly
