  1. I thought his kids had no interest in taking over the franchise, especially now that his daughter has passed away.
  2. I can. Saying Lynch hadn't developed "whatsoever" seems to miss the fact that he went over 1000 yards rushing his first two seasons. And as for the injury prone guys, while some of it was legitimately bad luck, some of it also had to have been Dick's horrible conditioning program. Plus, say all you want about the horrible front office at OBD, but they do have a pretty good track record over the past decade of finding "unplucked gems" (apologies to The Hip) like Fred Jackson, George Wilson, etc. (Incidentally, whoever was responsible for these practice squad developments ought to have been promoted a long time ago.)
  3. Yeah, he did give half-effort on a lot of plays. But I do feel that all the talk about him losing a step is unwarranted at the moment. It drives me nuts that people don't realize how much a receiver's stats depend on the quarterback. If a QB is getting sacked, throwing INTs, or checking down all the time, how does that necessarily mean the receiver's skills are in decline?
  4. Well, maybe, but I think there's more to it than that. Not that I expect them to win 10 games or anything this year. It's just that I think the players have more talent (though maybe not a lot more) than people give them credit for. And it seems to me that Perry Fewell was a little more aggressive on D than just "playing not to lose."
  5. Yeah, well, we are implicitly supporting that mindset by buying tickets and merchandise. As much as I think it is disgusting that athletes and entertainers get paid so much money, in a free market things are only worth what people are willing to pay for them. And we, as fans, are willing to pay for these guys to make ridiculous sums of money for entertaining us.
  6. I do respect Football Outsiders for their statistical analysis (though I got annoyed when they went commercial and started charging for everything). At one time they had Poz as the fourth-best LB in the NFL and George Wilson as the best safety - based purely on stats. With that said, what I really don't get is how a team that finished 6-10 last season and played close games against the Pats (on the road!) and has had similar heart-breaking losses to good teams in recent years, would actually get worse under, what is clearly, a better coach. Everyone talks about how bad the Bills players are, but if they were really that bad, how did they win 27 games over the past four seasons (with Dick coaching them, no less)?
  7. I just noticed that PFT has a section called Turd Watch. Most recent Bill on the police blotter was Corey McIntyre's bogus arrest for exposure over a year ago.
  8. Why 16? Because C is supposedly average? Kinda hard to make judgements of any coach before he's coached a single game for a team. Nevertheless, based on his record with Dallas and what I've heard out of him so far, I'd wager he's better than Marvin Lewis, Eric Man-genius, Jack Del Rio, Tom Cable, Norv Turner, Gary Kubiak, probably Mike Singeltary. It's too hard to judge some of the newer guys, though, like Todd Haley, Raheem Morris, etc. But, note this: Gailey and Tony Sparano have identical W-L records as head coaches, both have a division championship, and Gailey has one more playoff birth than Sparano. Gailey's a smart, no-nonsense football guy and appears to be a great teacher. He's got a track record for scoring points and mentoring players. That alone ought to warrant a B.
  9. My toilet is always available for you, sir.
  10. The most interesting part of that video, to me, was a couple of plays where he had TE rolling out to his right. TE looked pretty good on those plays. Maybe TE will be able to recover his confidence if he's not as big a sitting duck. Maybe Gailey can actually do something with these guys.
  11. So here's the big question, then. There are currently four QBs on the roster. Will Gailey put Levi on the practice squad and then keep the other three on the active roster, or will someone get cut? The three "leaders" in the QB race are all competing to be starters. Will one of them really be willing to be a third stringer? My guess is no. The logical thing to me would be to cut one of the top three and make Brown the third stringer.
  12. I agree that most of those were poor calls, but, Roscoe, despite last season's problems, has been among the top punt returners (if not the top) in the league for several years and he's been so underutilized it's hard to judge him as a failure in the WR department. As for Poz v. Harris, Football Outsiders has Poz ranked higher (based on a score adjusted for surrounding players). (Incidentally, George Wilson is ranked 1st in the league at FS by FO.) Note that their rankings are based purely on numbers.
  13. The only major beef I have is that I am sick and tired of hearing about how Shane Lechler is the league's best punter. 1. He punts in Oakland. 2. Average length of punts is not necessarily the absolute determiner of what makes a good punter. If your punter is consistently punting from the opponent's 36 yard-line, but does a good job of avoiding touchbacks, then he's a damn good punter. Just sayin.'
  14. Excellent point. Rice did really come alive (I had him on my fantasy team!). The problem is that we don't have someone of Favre's talent level at QB (unless Levi Brown blows everyone out of the water which actually could happen, though it's a serious longshot).
  15. Holy cr@p, are you serious??? I might have to think long and hard about renewing. That's ridiculous.
  16. It feels better when you move around...
  17. He doesn't strike me as a "play to expectations" kind of guy.
  18. I meant double the amount I actually squatted, i.e. 2 x 250 = 500 lbs. But I guess 405 makes sense for a DB.
  19. Yeah, sorry to see him go. Cancer sucks, man.
  20. Yeah, no kidding. In High School, I was a puny 128 lbs. and just under 5'8" and I could squat 250. An NFL player ought to be able to double what I did back then.
  21. I'd take him, but why dump Roscoe? I really don't understand why we're still sold on Hardy. He's been here for a couple of years and has done squat (well, I guess under Jauron they didn't do squats ). So I'd take Crayton and dump Hardy. I'm sick of long-term projects.
  22. Jeez, some of you guys act like Niagara Falls is in another hemisphere. I grew up in East Aurora and when I was in high school I dated a girl from Niagara Falls. Technically, there is one town - a single town - between the Buffalo city limits and the Niagara Falls city limits: Grand Island. I'd love to see a downtown stadium but I'd also love to see Buffalo politicians grow up. The reason Kelly is pushing for a NF stadium is because it makes it a shorter drive from both Rochester and Toronto. Frankly, it makes sense from an economic standpoint.
  23. Hey, maybe we could introduce some rugby-style plays (is that legal?).
