Report: Peyton Manning linked to HGH, doping ring
buffalonian replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Disillusionment"? I'm fairly certain that you are wrong about that. Further, I don't know how one can be "disillusioned" by liking a particular news show that is more objective than most others. There is nothing unexpectedly false about having that preference, even if you happen to believe something else. AJ and the BBC might not be perfect, but they are the best television news outlets available that I know of. Perhaps I am wrong and you could direct me to something better. I'm rather open minded and would be happy if you showed me a better alternative. -

Report: Peyton Manning linked to HGH, doping ring
buffalonian replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe you have never watched Al Jazeera's news network but it is excellent. It is on par with the BBC and far exceeds any of the major news networks or CNN in terms of the quality of its news coverage (you won't get fluff "lifestyle" stories ala Good Morning America). It is a straight up news network and has nothing to do with promoting Islam or any other ideology. If you want to be spoonfed news analysis with a political bent, watch something like the Fox News network. If you want objective world and American news coverage you should watch something like Al Jazeera or the BBC or PBS News Hour (although News Hour is not a 24 hour program). -
"What's Up With Kiko Alonso?"
buffalonian replied to buffalonian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I also found it interesting that folks are questioning Alonso's ability to handle a complicated defensive scheme. He strikes me as a rather instinctual player. I imagine that he would have struggled in the Bills defensive scheme this year. This begs the question; are defensive coordinators over thinking things? -
The question was posed today in a column in the Philadelphia Inquirer. http://mobile.philly.com/sports/eagles/?wss=/philly/sports/eagles&id=363323361 He has had a rough season playing inside and has not lived up to Philly's expectations. I find the column interesting when juxtaposed with McCoy's selection to the pro bowl yesterday.

Boobie reiterates what some of us knew...
buffalonian replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In terms of a player based leadership problem, it seems possible that the defense specifically really needed a leader to step up. Most of the dissension, at least publicly, seems to surround the defense, who dramatically underachieved this season. Despite several key injuries, the offense actually performed better than probably most of us expected. I think most of us would have eagerly accepted in August, the proposition that Tyrod Taylor would have the 5th best QBR and the Bills would be leading the league in rushing. I'm not sure how to explain the chaos that has surrounded the defense this season, nor am I sure that a strong defensive leader would have helped, but it is one element that clearly has been lacking. -
MCCoy was one of our best players on either side of the ball this season. I'm glad we got him and am happy with the trade.

Before everybody gives up on this steam

I'm going to enjoy next week's game. I'm not going to be stressed at all by it. And I won't be angry if we lose. It will be a stress free Sunday because I know that win or lose, the result really won't matter. -
Who Still Likes the Rex Hire
buffalonian replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand the frustration, but there are problems with this team this season for which Rex should not be faulted. The injuries, the dropped passes, the missed tackles, the poor officiating cannot be blamed on the coaches. The penalties may or may not be the fault of the coaches (Pats led the league in penalties last season - nobody blames Belicheck). I think you can question/ blame Rex for the tremendous and seemingly inexplicable drop in defensive play. Although the defense did not cost us the game yesterday. -

Rex isn't going anywhere. His enormous contract will keep him here for at least one more season. -
Any Bills fans been to a game in Philly?

A good bet is Tony Luke's on Oregon Ave. it has great steaks and other sandwiches and is down the street from the stadium. -

The best cheese steaks in Philly are at Delasandros in the Roxborough section of the city. It is a total hole in the wall. Unfortunately, it isn't close to the Stadium or Center City hotels. Joes has great non-cheesesteak sandwiches too. It is also not near the stadium or center city. -

Yes go to Jims, which is also more accessible than Pats and Genos. Pats and Genos are overrated and run by a bunch of Neanderthals. -

I've been to a bunch of Eagles home games, including the Bills game 7 years ago. I've never personally witnessed or experienced anything too troubling. Frankly, I experienced far more harassment at the Sabres v Flyers games I attended in Philly back in the day; and even that wasn't so bad. I'm going to the game Sunday, it is going to be 70 degrees and should be a lot of fun. If you are not driving, hop on the Subway after the game and get off at the Walnut-locust stop where there are tons of great bars and restaurants in the area. -
Colin Cowherd just killed Rex Ryan........
buffalonian replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cowherd is insufferable. Rex was simply having some fun, lest we forget that football is actually a form of entertainment. I try not to take any of these guys too seriously (coaches, commentators, etc). It is supposed to be fun after all. Rex is entertaining, it has nothing to do with "winning the press conference." Only a hack like Cowherd would make a big deal over it. -
Fire Danny Crossman Special Team Penalties are killing us.

Special teams have been atrocious this year. The penalties and bad play led to significant field position disadvantages in the New England, Cincinnati, and Giants games. -
Phantom call on Robey =Royally Screwed in England
buffalonian replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nothing to do with "benefit of the doubt." Nor does it matter that we were down by 24 points. The objective reality is that we were winning the game and the refs made a horrible call that directly led to us losing the game. That's it. -
The Bills were horrible for about 3 minutes today. They gave up 20 points on offense and they should be faulted for that. But they still deserved to win. What they cannot be faulted for is the incredibly inadequate job that is being done by the refs. My feeling is that NFL refs are historically bad. But the influence on games this year has been astounding. The NFL is a multi-billion dollar operation but they continue to use refs who are not full time refs, but who otherwise have jobs in sales, marketing, etc. The league could obviously rectify this problem. They could hire real refs who are trained and committed to performing beyond reproach. Each week, the NFL as an operation becomes more disliked by the people who are fans. This is for good reason. The NFL is a profit driven corporation that has exploited tax and antitrust laws on the theory that it exists for the common good. I'd be fine with that if they actually cared about the common good. They don't. If they did we wouldn't have bogus refs deciding games; we wouldn't have games being played in London, we wouldnt be subjected to hours of Viagra, Fan Duel, law and order-SVU commercials so our kids can't watch the games. The NFL is not a nonprofit that does good for the community. It is a business that takes advantage of our loyalty to our hometown and exploits it with little incentive to being fair or responsible to the people that keep it afloat. So what do we do folks? I'm sick of being screwed by the beast (my brother and I have season tickets + the DTV ticket), but I've been a hardcore Bills fan for 40 years. I'll keep watching, but I feel like a sad sack for that. Anyway, thanks for the letting me vent and I like hearing the views of the people on this board, who like me, love Buffalonians and love the Bills.

What??? It would have been 4th and 15. Defense had allowed no points. What planet do you live on?
