Schobel leaning more towards coming back...
buffalonian replied to sllib olaffub's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope he comes back. He is one of our best players and certainly makes the defense better. We need good players; he fits that bill (sorry for the pun). -
Well said. Don't touch the shout song!

The Shout Song is great. It's fun and a nice tradition. It would be a bad idea to scrap it.

Tim Graham and Ricky Williams
buffalonian replied to nick in* england's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's hard not to like Ricky Williams. I saw the spot that 60 minutes did on him ahwile back. In a league completely driven by ego, it's nice to see a player with some humility and a geuine desire to be a good person. I find it odd when people think players who walk away from the game for some greater purpose (like family or self awareness) are stupid or crazy. Believe it or not, professional football might not be the end all. -
new stadium?? be careful what you ask for...
buffalonian replied to rpcolosi's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Ralph is a fun place to see a game. I enjoy it far more than "state of the art" stadiums where I have attended games. Building a new stadium would be far too expensive to WNY and fans who buy tickets to the game. That being said, the Ralph could use updates in the following areas: 1) Bathrooms 2) Concessions 3) Grass field I've often wondered if there is a correlation between the high number of Bills injuries and the playing surface at the Ralph. If there is a connection, we should definitely change to grass. -
Tim, Kudos for your excellent coverage yesterday afternoon on espn.com. Looking forward to learning more about the Bills hiring process. Also, sorry to learn that some folks around here are demanding that you reveal your sources. Apparently some people have forgotten that football message boards are supposed to be fun and entertaining. I hope this doesn't discourage you from posting your thoughts in the future

I played at Rich in 90, 91, and 92 with Canisius. I actually have a video tape of the 1992 game v. St. Joes. It was on local tv. Every so often I'll bust it out as a joke. I also played hockey at the Aud a bunch of times and baseball at Pilot Field. They were all fun experiences for a kid. It's nice that Buffalo's sports arenas/ fields are at least somewhat accessible to the community. I'm not sure that happens in other cities.

So... maybe Edwards is the problem?
buffalonian replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills had 6 interceptions and Edwards was 5 for 5 before he was taken out. Fitzpatrick was a mess. Edwards may not be the answer but tonights game is no indicator of that. -
Best comment ever to appear on TBD!

Guaranteed pain relief for bills fans.
buffalonian replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I continue watching the Bills, even when they suck. I just don't get too worked up when they play miserably and lose. I try to remember that they have a bad team and that football is merely entertainment. I can't cheer for another team. It's not in my DNA apparently. -
E-Mail I sent to Jerry Sullivan
buffalonian replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We'll said. Sullivan has been bitterly fixated on Owens since Owens failed to talk to the media following the Pats loss. He has lost any sense of objectivity concerning Owens. I can't understand why he is so personally offended by Owens not talking to the press. The only useful bits of information that ever come out of post game press conferences are injury reports. Who cares what Owens, Evans, Edwards, etc. have to say about a football game that has ended? I can guarantee that players will never have anything truly enlightening to say following a game. Sullivan, et al. have to stop taking themselves so seriously. -
3-2 record heading into the Jets game
buffalonian replied to buffalonian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I watched it too. I hope the Jets gave a game ball to the Titans punt returner. The Titans are not good. Collins is not a good quaterback. That being said, you could very well be right because the Bills aren't that good either. -
TO's streak was very impressive. It's too bad the streak ended while he was on the Bills. I don't fault TO for being evasive with the press. I wish he'd caught some of the balls he has dropped over the past couple of weeks, but our offensive problems are much deeper.

Greg Williams will make a great head coach some day.

T.O. Games With A Catch Record Ended Today!
buffalonian replied to PearlHowardman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree completely. At that point in the game, I was hoping that they would get the guy a reception. We weren't going to win the game. I guess it's symbolic of how clueless the offense was today. -

Another Phillies fan, interesting. Based on your post, I guess we all need you to start routing for Raiders, Chiefs, Eagles, etc. We will welcome you back into the Bills fold once your negative energy has lifted! -
3-2 record heading into the Jets game
buffalonian replied to buffalonian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So what do we do Joe? Do we keep investing time and emotional energy into Sunday afternoons despite no payback. What does it mean for us die hard Bills fans. Do you quit at some point? Frankly, I philosophically hate the NFL as an institution. Yet I still find myself cheering the Bills every Sunday. I think that we love the Bills for many different reasons. Many of us feel a deep connection and loyalty to western new york and fellow Bills fans. If you knew the Bills were going to suck for the next ten years would you still be a fan? -

It's hard to imagine that Lidge would've had such a complete meltdown this season. At least they have some decent starters. Yet I can't see them beating the Yankees in the world series (should they make it that far). -

You might be right, but did you watch the Jets game today? Tennessee (0-3) blew it. By the way, Houston is 1-2. I'm not sure the Jets will throttle us, but they might. Maybe I'm just trying to find a silver lining because I've shelled out a lot of money for directv and have tickets to three home games. I’ve also been watching the Bills for 30 years and I’m starting to get tired. I feel like I've been watching the same movie for the last 10 years. -
A very depressing loss today against an excellent New Orleans offense. Hopefully we just witnessed an underachieving Bills offense today. Regardless, the Bills stand a decent chance to be 3-2 going into a game against an overated Jets team.

Tim, Thanks for your ESPN blog defending the integrity of Bills fans in light of the idiotic gesture involving McKelvin's lawn. I hope McKelvin understands that most Bills fans abhor the incident and are happy that he is a player on our team. Please convey this sentiment to McKelvin if you talk with him (if you think it is appropriate to do so). Thanks

Dude. Aren't you familiar with NFL rule 325.8 - "no holding penalties will be called against the Patriots when they are trailing in the second half." Learn the rule book before you blasphemy
