Byrd Skipping mandatory mini-camp
atlbillsfan1975 replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of the 8 players that where franchised, Byrd is the only one who has not signed his tag tender or negotiated a long term deal. Did Parker represent any of the other 8? Or did he represent any other players who came up for FA this offseason and resigned with their teams? I wonder if Parker does indeed have some type of notion about Buffalo and thus does not want his players playing there unless they get paid top dollar? conspiracy theory? Maybe. -
Brad Smith Renegotiates Contract
atlbillsfan1975 replied to uncle flap's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love to see the details of the deal. i will guess maybe it will try to focus B. Smith at WR. A fair base salary with not crazy gauranteed. It most likely will include incentives for catches, yards, touchdowns, etc... My hope is that if B. Smith focus' his time and energy at WR he will be a solid one. The guy is 6'2 215lbs and can run like a deer. He has almost the same type of big play potential that CJ has. It may not pan out and he may not be able to take the step to becoming just a legit WR, but it is worth the shot. -
Other teams Training Camp injuries

I hear ya. You also could think of it like if it did not happen then it would happen first game. Which provides you with less time to adjust. -
I agree with the age and points of their career. i will also say that right now i would take Ryan over Big Ben and P Manning. Push with E. Manning. Brees, Brady have about 2-3 years left maybe. Rodgers because of his age and what he has done would be my first QB. After that it would be a toss up between Ryan and E. Manning for me if i was looking to build a team for the next 6-9 years.

people said that about Peyton Manning for a long time. I watch every Falcons pretty much. They had a horrible D last year. Nolan did his best to make them average. The Falcons had little to no running game. It was so bad that on short yardage downs the falcons would often have to pass. Turner went over the hill quick. Yes Ryan as Roddy White and Julio Jones and Gonzalez. And he uses them. Vick had Roddy White and could do little to nothing with him. Ryan is one of the top 5 qb's in the league, he just is. And by your win the big one arguement, what do you think of Dan Marino? he was a top 3 qb for years while he played. As a Bills fan i hope E.J turns out to be as good as Ryan. If he does the Bills will be good for a long time, just like the falcons have been and will be!

I agree with you here, but Parker is what makes the NFL less than perfect. Agents ruin the game. They do. -
Excellent Pettine article in the Buffalo news

Yep, Mario had 5 sacks in 5 games. I stopped reading after that. Just another negative energy Bills fan. -
Right on Cue.

Johnny Football: Drinking problem?

Could by McCarron is jealous at the hype around Manziel? McCarron to me is a darn good qb but gets over looked by many because it is perceived that Saban and the D win for Bama. McCarron had 30 t.ds to 3 int. almost a 68% completion rate and an average yard per attempt of like 9.3. Tell me those are not great numbers? -
Johnny Football: Drinking problem?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The guys nickname is Johnny Football. He beats the number one team in the country and goes on to be the first freshmen to win the Hiesman award. He has everyone and their brother blowing smoke up his kiester. So he is not handling it perfectly, so what. You are all kidding yourself he is not th enumber one pick when he comes out if his play on the field is the same as last year. IF he plays like he did last year all this is forgotten about. Lets see how Johnny Football does during the season before we pass judgement on the guy. -
Met Doug Marrone this past Sunday

This was my thought. If Rogers does not seperate himself in training camp from the other fringe guys, the Bills will try to PS him. Having said that i heard 14 other teams tried to sign him as a FA. Brings up an interesting question. Lets hope he has a great training camp and preseason. -
Byrds INT count is padded...

Does anyone think Brady and Belichick game plan for Byrd like they did for Reed? -
Would You Rather Have Mario Or Byrd?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hear ya. And i think Mario at his position is better then Byrd at his position. And what Mario does is not affected one bit by who plays safety. What Byrd does or production he has is dictated heavily by who plays in front of him. So to me yes i take Mario hands down. Byrd had nice INT stats, which are great, but he his nowhere near a game changer Reed was or T Polamalu was. -
Byrd Skipping mandatory mini-camp
atlbillsfan1975 replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Could not do that with Peters because of how much it would have cost. And after the second franchise tag he gets to walk and the team is left with nothing. i get what you are saying, I would for sure have Byrd play this year under the tag. Tell Parker you are considering strongly on tagging Byrd again next year. What is Byrd going to do, sit out till the 10th game? Dog it and not play hard? Those things hurt Byrd and Parker's bank account, so nope. Let Byrd play under the tag. IF he plays well and the teams does well he will be back. If the new coaching regime turns around the culture Byrd stays. -
Byrd Skipping mandatory mini-camp
atlbillsfan1975 replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont think so. Honestly. What does Byrd have to make a claim he deserves top money? His Int's? Ok well teams can go look at each one of those(18 in four years) and frankly i see Byrd as an opportunist type of FS. He usually benefited from a poor throw then being a play maker. He is nothing special in the run game. And i highly doubt teams scheme around Byrd like they did Reed. Byrd is solid, do not get me wrong. But i think this past FA period we started to see a change. Besides the Dolphins, many teams did not over spend. teams are getting wiser. My opinion. IF(and i have no clue it is true) Byrd wants out of Buffalo, why? because he wants to go to a contender probably? Well both Super Bowl teams just let their safeties walk. -

Maybe i am just an angry Bills fan, but i highly doubt Byrd gets number one saftey money from any team. I believe this could back fire on Parker in the end. Parker is human and think he just did what all of us do, messed up. -

Good story and i think it is the right approach for both Byrd and the Bills. Just under $7mil is not crazy money for this year. See how he plays and fits in the system. IF he stands out and has a great year, i bet the Bills would pay 5 years $40mil for him. IF the coaches decide that Byrd was not a big impact after the season, let him walk and spend money in another pressing area. -
Would You Rather Have Mario Or Byrd?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With out pressure on a NFL QB, DB's get eaten alive. They just do. You as a Bills fan should know that better then anyone. I think you are more upset that Byrd seems destined to be another good Bills player that leaves, and thus are being arguementative. Sorry, but with out a pass rush you could have an all pro secondary and the offense would still be able to move the ball through the air. -
Would You Rather Have Mario Or Byrd?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ah yes LeBeau. I keep wishing the Bills had some how kept him here. I know he wanted to return to Pitt. But gosh he is a genius. I like Zimmer, but really like Nolan with the falcons more. Nolan did more with less then i think anyone did last year. the Falcons D has very few play makers on it. Heck i would say the Bills have way more. Funny how a great QB can make almost any D player expendable? -

atlbillsfan1975 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree on the revisionist history crap. Who is your first DC? I also take Mario, he impacts runs as well as passes. The guy commands respect. Just when teams started thinking they could get away with single teaming him, his production climbed. The guy is and will be a 10+ sack guy for the next 4 years. Byrd is good, but he is more of an opportunist type of FS. Reed made plays in his heyday. Byrd benefits usually from poor throws. And i do not see Byrd being anything special when it comes to run stopping. I like Byrd and wish he could come back for fair market value. Unfortunately Whaley and Parker can not agree on that number quite yet.
