Obama admits we're headed for Depression

Recommended Posts

Someone needs to pull the mic away from Obama. As he was just giving a sermon to his Democrat faithful in the House, he admitted we are in the middle of a Depression. He didn't say so in those words....but as he was trying to give credit to the economists for making dire predictions, he let slip that his team is projecting a $1 trillion contraction in demand (GDP) this year, and then another $1 trillion in 2010.

That my folks....is a Depression.

The current GDP is just under $15 trillion and was down 0.5% in Q3 '08 and 3.8% on an annualized basis in Q4. Using Obama's numbers, we will have lost 10% from our GDP in Q1 of 2010, and 15% by the end of 2010.

Now...call me goofy, but an 800 billion stimulus won't do a dang thing long term as we are still sinking trillions into the banking, insurance, auto, etc. systems at the same time. Too many holes in the dam.

Now, this isn't a shock to me....what was interesting was how bad Obama is when he ad-libs about things he doesn't know about. If anyone watched him tonight, he was almost like a drunk best-man, giving a toast. He isn't stupid and is a much better speaker than Bush, but his desire to prove everyone wrong is going to make him look like a fool. Between the appointments dropping left and right, and a few of these other side shows.....this can get out of hand in a hurry.

We are in a depression.

Donald Trump, said it on Larry King live last night, according to Larry King. Susan Orman, who was a guest, told a viewer not to pay off a credit card because if she does they'll cut her off and she might lose her job in the future and she'll need the cash to live on.

I think you are right. But we have to do something. It may not help a dang thing, but at least it's something.

I think Obama is doing a great job given the situation. In my region, a few towns to the east the Mayor of that town says the city has 20% unemployment.

Are you just here because one of your predicted deadlines is approaching?

Obama has to stop with all the doom-gloom stuff and be a strong confident leader. Right now he looks like a chicken with his head cut off saying the sky is falling (to mix chicken stories).

Using Suze Orman to back up a point is a recipe for failure. She is an entertainer, not an advisor. Whenever I get a call and the person mentions that they "heard it on Suze Orman" I know something stupid or missunderstood is coming next.

So he should sugar coat this giant mess we're in? I am happy that we finally have some up there that is trying to bring sides together and get things done (ie: appointing both republicans and democrats to his cabinet) and one that is not afraid to say how things really are going. If we're in a depression, we're in one.

"Sugar coat"? No. But as the man the Nation looks to, his job is to lead and yes....encourage people. Not to run around going "Were !@#$ed, were !@#$ed!!!"

If you look through history, the BEST Presidential speeches and most memorable "lines" came in the WORST of times.

And excuse me...the token gesture of briging a Republican to his Cabinet means jack. Not when he's letting Nancy "even LIBERALS hate me" Pelosi and the Democratic Caucus be in charge of whats in this mess of a bill. Yeah, its their job to write it (duh) but Obama's got the political capital right now to make sure what Congress puts on his desk is something he really wants. And hes not doing that. Instead hes demonizing Republicans for their efforts to expose this bill for what it is.

Bring both sides together? Are you joking? You did notice that no Republicans voted with the stimulus in the House right? And that's likely to be repeated in the Senate?

No one is coming together. Obama is ramming this bill down America's gullet without the careful consideration he promised. I'd much prefer a bill that set aside a trillion dollars and then had to revisit each of the spending proposals in that trillion dollars as its spent (like TARP constantly shifted ground) than this "Let's-come-up-with-ways-to-spend-a-trillion-bucks" in a month plan. This package is an outrage and even America is starting to turn on the package, although it will probably pass because Obama is so hell-bent on beating the "we're !@#$ed" drum.

Sorry if I can't be on an internet message board 24/7. When there is something to say, I say it. I warned where we were headed over a year ago. If you haven't taken steps to protect yourself by now, you are in full denial, an idiot, or just don't have the means.

Last night Obama confirmed that he is a side-show circus. He was worse than Biden when he talked. He has that overwhelming need to try and be clever every time he speaks, and he is going to keep F'ing things up. Not only is he preaching doom and looking unprofessional, but he is zero threat to our enemies. Heck, they aren't our enemies to him...just friends that haven't been hugged yet.

I will ad that Orman gets paid a LOT of money by the credit card companies as well. Draw your own conclusions.

If he stops the doom and gloom he won't be able to fast track his socialist spending plans through congress.

His fear mongering is all part of his master plan.

I don't think that he was expecting the media to turn on him so fast.

I saw the talk he gave at the enviromental convention, and he sounded angry.

What happened to "Hope"? As soon as he walks in office he predicts the end when all he campaigns is sunny tomorrows the day his tomorrow becomes today.

It was like he was singing the Rainbow Connection by Kermit the Frog and now he's the Curmudgeon of the Century.

He's bringing Change, and none of it will work except to destroy the dollar. Inflationary depressions are much better than allowing a recession to happen. Thanks Dems for stimuluses and rebate checks. Thanks to the last 2 presidents who are foolishly believing this works.

It is amazing how quickly the rally cry went from "yes we can" to "no we can't, but it's not my fault".

Actually it was always not only "Yes, we can" but it was "No, you can't" (meaning the stubborn Republicans who had their chance for yes we can the last eight years and blew it). And it's still "yes we can" and still "no, you can't" unless you bring something to the table and join us. Obama has said, and still says, in the exact same way, that we the country will get out of this. He's always said it's a huge mess and won't be easy but yes we can. The only no we can't is if he gets zero support from the other side that he needs.

You really should listen to what people say. It helps a lot when you then try to say stuff yourself.
