VABills Posted February 4, 2009 Share Posted February 4, 2009 Where is the outrage that 2+ million people have been without food, water, esentials of life, dozens dying freezing, and the federal government has done nothing for nearly a week. meanwhile it gets only worse. The governer has been asking the Messiah to declare a disater area, but the Messiah not only can't find time to go see these poor souls, he doesn't see fit to send his FEMA director. Unless it's in a big city, it doesn't count. Just ask all the Katrina victims in Mississippi...hell, in the parishes surrounding New Orleans, for that matter. Well, they didn't vote for him, so he doesn't give a sh**. We didn't get it quite as bad, but I live in an area that got hit pretty hard by the same storm. As of yesterday, there were still close to 150, 000 people in Arkansas and Missouri without electricity, which is probably about a third of the population of the affected areas. We lost power for five days and we were lucky. The electric companies are saying it'll be anywhere from four to six WEEKS before power is restored in the outlying counties. Water supplies were interrupted in many of the smaller municipalities. Food and gas? LOL. Right. Again, we were lucky here...the stores, gas stations and factories opened within three days. The only thing we had to put up with were two hour gas lines. That's definitely not the case in many towns around here. FEMA, meanwhile, has been a complete no-show as far as I know. And Friday is the day after Thursday. So the FEMA response was pretty good. The National Guard was on the ground almost immediately.
