Hillary wins another swing state

Recommended Posts

I totally agree with you Bill... I am no fan of what Hillary is doing pandering to the racist element... And before anybody flames me... Look at the other states that have poorer working class whites that voted 180 degrees opposite KY and WV did.

I suspect that those other states would have been similar had the Rev Wright controversy been exposed by the media at the start of the primaries instead of waiting as long as they did.

Did he vote for the war? Then he is different than other politicians.

:D

Did he vote against it? No, because he wasn't in Congress. It's easy to say what you'd do when you don't have to do it. But then when he became Senator he voted for Iraq funding appropriations. If he wanted to make a consistant statement he would have voted against any funding for Iraq.

No, actually I was saying that it's disingenious to complain the specific way someone wants to waste your money when it's pretty much all waste. I've said it before, and I'll say it again...give me a candidate that'll cut the federal budget, start paying off the federal debt, and veto everything that comes out of Congress, and I'll support that candidate. Until then, they're all shades of the same leporous grey.

So how could you support Obama in any way, when he certainly would not do any of that, being of the socialist bent that he is?

Are you asking how I can support in an absolute sense, which I don't? Or are you asking how I could support him relative to McCain, who wouldn't do any of that either?

And who the hell said I support him to begin with? I sure didn't.

Well, you have said on this forum that you'll likely end up voting for him.

Doesn't mean I support him, any more than I supported Bush. Could mean that McCain scares me as much as Kerry did.

Hell, I'd willingly abstain...except too many of you bozos here think that you're required to vote to participate in political discussions.

Vote for yourself or a 3rd parTy

More votes that don't go to the big 2 the better

Yeah, I've said plenty of times already I'm voting for Lyndon Larouche.

And by the way...how come no one's bitching about that? That's more insane than my "support" for Obama...

Why does it matter what we think? :D

Tom, you seemed to indicate support for Obama in some way. I was just probing your reasons for that support (in whatever way that means), considering that my understanding of your political inclinations was that you had no great love for either party or their candidates.

This sounds like good advice to me.

I think the question that I would ask now is: why would you ever vote for someone that you didn't support? (i.e. Obama, in this case)

I understand that. Just because I dispute the idea that he's not above the other politicians (and I do dispute it: I see him acting to unite people in a socio-political environment where everyone else's strategy is to be divisive as possible) doesn't mean I support him. For example: I doubt he'll be fiscally responsible, and I have grave concerns about his foreign policy ideas that seem, at best, pollyanaish.

In my case...pretty much because the other guy is SO horrible that I'd do anything to keep him out of office. Obama vs. Guilani? Eh...I'd probably shrug and watch from the sidelines. Obama vs. McCain...well, McCain scares me, frankly. I've heard far too much from people here to be comfortable with him in the White House. Clinton vs. Hitler...Hitler, hands down, since I will do ANYTHING to keep Clinton out of office. Hell, I'd probably have voted for Hitler over Kerry...at least Hitler had beliefs.

"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it," she said, dismissing calls to drop out."

WTF?

Tom kinda sums up my thoughts pretty well, at least in the belief that Obama will be more likely to unite. McCain doesn't really scare me per se, but I'm just not convinced that he is capable of doing anything remarkable in terms of taking the country in the right direction.

Policy-wise we kinda know what we are getting. I don't think either will stray too far from their particular party lines. I think Obama might be the better choice from the 'green' perspective in funding research to help our addiction to fossil fuels. Don't get me wrong, I'm no global warming alarmist, but the political climate (no pun intended) is ripe to get more dollars into R&D for more efficient and cost effective solar collection, fusion, and better batteries. I think that being the leader in this kind of tech will (for a while anyway) keep us near the top of the food chain. If it happens to be better for the environment too, so be it.

Uh, is that really THAT big of a deal? She's just pointing out that anything can happen. Now, it was a very poor choice of examples (especially since Obama is black), but hell, can you quickly think of an example of a political race changing in June other than that?
