Beerball Posted April 13, 2007 Share Posted April 13, 2007 Here's information on his recent workout in front of NFL scouts. It's a couple days old, but I didn't see it posted elsewhere. FYI McShay has him as the #3 WR after Johnson and Dwayne Bowe, and he sits at #23 overall. Ohio State WR/RS Ted Ginn Jr. was finally able to perform for NFL scouts on Wednesday, just 17 days prior to the 2007 draft (April 28-29). For starters, Ginn participated only in the 40-yard dash and position drills, which means NFL teams have no shuttle times or leaping results to record on him. He ran three 40-yard dash attempts in the 4.4-second range (4.41, 4.45 and 4.49). Those are good times for most but hardly to the world-class standards Ginn was expected to achieve. For comparison purposes, Ohio State's No. 4 receiver, Roy Hall, was timed by some scouts in the high 4.3-second range during last month's pro day -- and Hall is 6-foot-2 and 229 pounds. It's important to note that trainers claim Ginn's foot injury is only 75-percent healed at the moment. While it helps explain his unspectacular 40 times, it does not ease concerns regarding his durability issues. Doctors expect Ginn to return to full form in the near future, but NFL teams are understandably worried about his recovery time. After all, he suffered the injury celebrating a touchdown return in the national championship game more than three months ago. The 5-foot-11, 178-pound receiver caught the ball well in drills, but he noticeably began to favor his foot midway through the session. As always, it's important to put these workouts in perspective. It doesn't take much game-tape to diagnose Ginn Jr. as one of the fastest players in the class when he's 100-percent healthy. On the flipside, it doesn't take much time in the film room to recognize his weaknesses as a receiver, which includes inconsistent focus, poor route-running skills and a general lack of toughness. With that in mind, Wednesday's workout in Columbus could not have done much to sway scouts' opinions one way or the other. Still, it's safe to say Ginn was underwhelming. KOKBILLS Posted April 14, 2007 Share Posted April 14, 2007 the tape says he was usually the fastest guy on the field who cares what he times after a minor injury I agree...He may be a bit rough-around-the-edges but every OSU Game I saw, and I saw quite a few, He was clearly the most explosive Player on the Field...period...He also had a knack for saving His best performances for the bigger Games...And if He's running that fast on an ankle that is 75%, well...anyone can do that math... After seeing what Devon Hester meant to a Super Bowl run last Season, I'm pretty sure NFL GM's understand what adding Ginn to their ST's could bring...I can't imagine any NFL Scout Grading Ginn out lower than Hester as a Return Specialist, and Ginn is FAR more developed at His Position... I see Ginn as being a potential steal for the right Team, especially a Team that already has a #1 WR...That would involve Ginn dropping a bit though...I think Scouts in Minnesota, Atlanta, Miami, Houston, and San Fran can all make strong cases for why their Teams need to Draft Ginn...It's hard to imagine all of those Teams passing on his potential as a Play Maker on Offense and ST's...But I guess we'll see soon enough... This is my post in another thread about Ginn Pittman and Smith from OSU: They are from Cleveland and went back to sign autographs. Those three jerks were asking for $50 cash per item signed at a local sports shop. So $100 would get you two things signed. What charity was the money going to you ask? Thier personal bank accounts. That is so shallow. These three dipsh-ts are going to be millionaires at 22 years old and they have to pull that crap? I hope all three are busts. Dibs Posted April 15, 2007 Share Posted April 15, 2007 Ted Ginn could be slipping a bit Maybe he should try wearing those big studs on his shoes......or slowing down a bit more before he changes direction.
