Minnesota game sold out?

I have seen no local media coverage regarding the Bills game being sold out and therefore on TV.

I just went to the ticket site and tried to order 8 tickets together and they popped right up. To me that says there are boatloads of seats left.

I can't imagine how this game ends up being broadcast locally.

Try going to purchase those tickets, 8 together, put your card info in, and click purchase, I bet it comes back saying not available.

1.) Sometimes tickets "free up" just before the games (tickets held for seasons, players, etc).

2.) I wouldn't be surprised if Time Warner, in its bid to soothe customers after the Adelphia/NFL fiasco, buys the remaining tickets out, to ensure "all local market games will be shown on Time Warner."

That's interesting, because all other reports have stated there are only single seats left and that a sell-out is a virtual certainty.

It could very well be that group tickets have been returned or not claimed (i.e. Group Z orders 100 tickets, says they only need 50, returns the rest to the team), league/player /sponsor allotments have not been used, etc. Those tickets, under the blackout rules, may very well be considered "sold," IIRC.

I just read the single seat news as well, but again went to the website, asked for 8 tickets and go section 317 row 28 seats 1-8.

There are a hell of a lot of seats available for single seats only game.. .

It may well be on TV, but if they consider this a sell out I think they are exagerating to say the least.

Try buying them, I bet they aren't there when you try to purchase them

Look at where those seats are - THE TOP OF A CORNER UPPER DECK SECTION. Those seats are generally reserved for opposing teams (coaches, fans, employees).

I usually take a road trip or two a year to a Bills game and am guaranteed tickets no matter where they play because I am close with a Bills employee. WITHOUT FAIL, those tickets are always in a top corner of the stadium, as these seats are.

My guess? Unused tickets by the Vikings/NFL, which IIRC don't count towards a home team's sell-out threshold (nor are any other "comp" tickets).

This NFL press release might be of interest:

ALL WEEK 4 GAMES SOLD OUT; FIRST TIME ALL TV BLACKOUTS LIFTED FOR FIRST FOUR WEEKS OF SEASON

For the fourth consecutive week, all games of the NFL schedule have sold out in advance of the local TV blackout deadline, enabling every game to be televised in the home-team market, the NFL announced today.

This is the first time since the NFL blackout policy took effect in 1973 that all blackouts have been lifted in the season’s first four weeks. All blackouts were lifted on NFL Kickoff 2006 Weekend (September 7, 10-11), in Week 2 (September 17-18) and Week 3 (September 24- 25).

It will be the 17th time in NFL history that blackouts have been lifted for all games on a single weekend. The previous 16 times have been on Kickoff Weekend in 1998; three times in 2000; once in 2001; four times in 2002 and 2005; and three times this season.

The NFL blackout policy states that games sold out 72 hours prior to kickoff can be televised in the home city.

Why, because they have 100 or 200 tickets left that may have been returned to them by the vikings? Should they not call it a sell out if they have a single ticket remaining? What is the cut off?

The game is officially a sell-out, which is all that matters. But this is the game with the Bills Backers package. The team was holding a bunch of tickets for that package and for late season ticket purchases. So, up until about a week ago, you couldn't even buy two tickets together unless you were purchasing the BB package, too.

I did hear this morning that the Browns-Raiders game in Oakland sold out, or was close to it.

With the way the Faders are playing, that really shocks me.

All games this week has been sold out. This is the first time in some years the all the games of the 1st 4 weeks of a season has been sold out, thanks mainly to Arizona getting a new stadium.
