Nancy Sinatra, " These Boots were Made for Walking "

You keep saying you've got something for me.

something you call love, but confess.

You've been messin' where you shouldn't have been a messin'

and now someone else is gettin' all your best.

These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do

one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.

You keep lying, when you oughta be truthin'

and you keep losin' when you oughta not bet.

You keep samin' when you oughta be changin'.

Now what's right is right, but you ain't been right yet.

These boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do

one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.

You keep playin' where you shouldn't be playin

and you keep thinkin' that you´ll never get burnt.

Ha!

I just found me a brand new box of matches yeah

and what he know you ain't HAD time to learn.

Off the top of my head:

Traci Bonham "Mother Mother"

Fiona Apple "Criminal"

Joan Osbourne "One of Us"

Stacey Q "Two of Hearts"

Jill Sobule "I kissed a Girl"

Shawn Colvin "Sunny Came Home"

I'd add Liz Phair ("Supernova") & Julianna Hatfield ("My Sister"), but they did have quite a few others hits.

The real task is finding the rare "Two Hit Wonder". My entry is Paula Cole "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?" and "I Don't Want to Wait".

tough, tough call this time

Jewel's actually had more than one top-40 song; I'd hardly call her a one-hit wonder.

And no list of female one-hit wonders is complete without "Mickey" by Toni Basil. The ultimate one-hit wonder; she's actually in the Rock and Roll HOF because that POS song somehow limped its way to #1 on the charts for one week. You don't get much more "one-hit wonder" than that.

Can you hum a few bars? I can't get that on in my head.

Well, she was in a 3-way in "Easy Rider". Extenuating circumstances, as it were.

But I agree. This makes the RnR HOF about as legitimate as Elvis' blackbelt.

I believe Nancy Sinatra had another top 20 record as a duet with her father with "Somethin' Stupid"
