It was put in place when goalies didn't wear masks and has long outlived it's usefulness. I'd bet if you checked sticks before the game that about 90% are illegal. Defense has, for the most part, done its job. The forwards have been OK in their own zone and largely uninspired in the offensive zone. Each goal has been in transition. The PK has been sharp.
