I don't even see why we need to evaluate Drew. HE'S GONE! What he does in Dallas has no bearing on the Bills. What he does in Dallas can't be used to say what he'd do for the Bills if he was still here. L-e-t i-t g-o! Focus on the cluster !@#$ that is our beloved Bills.

The most important decision the Bills "brain trust" made in the off season was to get rid of DB and turn the offense over to JP this season (as opposed to later when he might be more prepared).

It is entirely fair to compare what the other guy is doing. Lord knows there were many on this board that were doing this after the first preseason game and in the first quarter of the Cowboys game against the Chargers. For some reason, some of you guys don't like the comparison any more. I wonder why.

Because you can't compare it! They are two different teams, with different players, with different coaches, with different playbooks. It's impossible to compare apples to apples in this case.

That's not entirely true. There has to be some grounds for comparison otherwise everything would be completely subjective all the time and that isn't so. There has to be some ground that we all agree on.

Some players are bad no matter who they play for, like Rob Johnson, Ryan Leaf, and Erik Flowers.

Some players are good no matter who they play for, like Jerry Rice, Ricky Williams, and Takeo Spikes.

We look at Drew to see if he can give us an indication of why things were bad when he was here and why things are still bad. If removing him means we start playing better, then that might indicate why things were the way they were. On the other hand, if we still struggle and Dallas shows improvement with Drew as QB, then maybe Drew wasn't the problem?

Not to mention, most of us are fans of the NFL and football in general, in addition to being fans of the Buffalo Bills. So we're always interested to see how players in new situations do.

That's why there's interest in Drew Bledsoe.

While that is true....that can only be properly analyzed if the QB was the only position to change on the offense from last year. However, that is not the case. Since there were multiple changes on the offense from last year, no real conclusion can be drawn based on one players performance.

We don't NEED to see what Bledsoe does with another team. We saw him here for 3 years. Did he play well enough in his 3 years here to warrant staying? That's what matters, not whether or not he plays well/poorly with Dallas.

Left Injury (umm... Left tackle), what ever scrub played at LG on a rotating basis and Bledsoe are the only changes.

Well, that's when you get into a tricky area in terms of how to evaluate players.

It depends on how you weigh the importance of certain positions. Generally, most people feel that certain positions have more bearing on the success of an offense than others, such as the positions of QB, RB, LT, C and WR. On the other hand, some people believe that all of the positions have equal importance. They believe that a tight end's contribution to the team is equal to the quarterback's contribution.

And although there have been changes at other positions for both Dallas and Buffalo, basically the teams are the same on offense besides the QB.

It just comes down to which philosphy you adopt when determing a player's worth whether or not you want to compare Drew's performance from this year to last year's.

The whole left side of the line changed. Not small potatoes.

Yeah but one was a major upgrade with Anderson. And that's sad, considering Anderson is only average that he was a major upgrade. Gandy is a huge downgrade from Jonas, but Jonas was gonna miss 2-5 games per year, cost a lot more, and really still only be an average NFL LT.

So one upgrade, one downgrade, and the book is out on QB, and should be until after the year.

If Bledsoe were playing poorly, I bet a bunch of you would think the comparison was relevant -- just like some of you did after the first preseason game and the first quarter of the Charger game.
