NO flooded on TUESDAY. IT IS THURSDAY. 48 HOURS. It takes time to move things . Ever hear of a word called logistics? Can't use the transporters on the !@#$ING ENTERPRISE to get stuff there.

-----------------

All you --------------- can do is complain about something you know nothing about.

Drop water on them?

Get more busses- From where?

Fly stuff in- where do the planes land?

You sound just like Tom Cruise ranting about Psychology.

By the way, the hurricane hit on Monday morning and today is Friday. That's 96 hours without a bottle of water, food, electricity, or a working toilet. If all of these newspeople could somehow get there, you would think that the supplies could follow the same path. They also knew that the NO area would be hit last Saturday. That makes 6 days for logistics.

Michael Brown of FEMA said today that they weren't aware of the people at the convention center until Thursday. Maybe they should watch CNN like the rest of us and see where the problems are.

I also read today that there are 300 Arkansas National Guard troops arriving today "direct from Iraq". Maybe if they had been in Arkansas in the first place they could have gotten there a few days earlier.

Classic and quite accurate. The apologists should spend a bit less time defending the indefensible. Yes, its a complete disaster and utter chaos but clearly the lack of leadership is unnecessarily exasperating the situation.

[Warning, political statement ahead] Perhaps if this was "terrr" related the Big Guy would demonstrate more interest. I guess if you can't shoot it it's not that cool.

Then you would B word they are watching TV instead of organzing this stuff. Maybe you need to let him do his job, and then critic him afterwards. But if you're not part of the solution then get out of the way CNN, FOX, and every other media group down there. I am sure FEMA would like to use their buses, there choppers, etc.... but no it gets slowed down having to talk to every talking head that's swarming the area for a "story".

Yeah, and furthermore, I think Bush used his magical Hurrricane machine to create this mess......that SOB.

You people who are going to point fingers at Bush are waaaaaay off base. I'll agree that the failure of a coordinated response has to do with politicians and government, but to squarely blame one person is crazy. And for the whiny comment "The Bush admin doesn't believe in global warning" - well Clinton believed in it didn't he???? How come he didn't upgrade the dikes?!?!?

Friggin Ridiculous.

The talking head thing is silly. He is the HEAD of FEMA, its his job to be sure that those working FOR him are doing THEIR jobs and it is his job to be the face of the Agency.

As for the convention center... I have been an apologist for the fact that the situation itself is a big reason for the delay in releif efforts. An interview I heard yesterday evening with Mike Brown changed all of that however.

He was being interviewed by Robert Segal on All Things Considered. Segal asked him about the fact that at the convention center there were reports of rapes and violence and that there was no one in a position of ANY authority there and that there had been NO deliveries of supplies there even though police in other areas of the city were telling people to go there.

Brown got very testy and said he knew nothing of that, and said "i'm not going to come on here and argue about what I'm hearing from my people vs what reporters are telling you".

15 minutes after the interview ended, Robert Segal said they had received a return call from Brown who said was able to confirm all he had just been told about the conditions at the Convention Center and help was on its way.

Within an our and half I saw on TV that some supplies of water were dropped off there.

It took being confronted about the situation on the radio and even challenging it at first to become aware of it.

There is something SERIOUSLY wrong with the way things are being handled down there.

Actually, it appeared that Anderson and his crew were helping people sift through damage for personal belongings, and they were passing names along of people they ran into to connect people down there. Maybe or maybe not it was for show, but it's better than nothing.

So you are saying there were ZERO supplies ANYWHERE. None at the SD, no food carried in by the citizens... none?

Something tells me that is not the case considering we have people complaining about the food they were given...

No I wasn't saying that no one had supplies. I was saying that lots of people had not had any water or food in 96 hours. I was responding to Wacka who thought that 48 hours of waiting was acceptable due to logistics. First, it was a lot more than 48 hours and second, I didn't think that it was acceptable for thousands at the convention center to still be without any help as of Thursday.

I think a lot of people here, myself included, are trying to vent our frustration at watching these Americans in such distress for days. <_<

Watching him light up that Senator was interesting.  " Excuse me, but I'm hearing you thanking these politicians for their help, yet behind me is a dead elderly woman who has been rotting on this street curb for 48 hours now because no one has showed up here,  rats are eating her now."

A guy who wears makeup on TV sensationalizing a tragedy. Never saw that coming.

And pathetically there are just as many out here saying its their own fault and that they are getting what they deserve.

For every idiot that stayed and COULD have left I would guess there are 2 or 3 who had no way to leave. I mean the old, sick and yes the poor.

People laughed at one guy who stayed and when asked why he responded "I have to work tomorrow". Its funny until you realize that if he left and the worst did not materialize, he more than likely would have been fired for not being there.

You can cry bull sh--, but my wife works at a pretty big bank downtown and on those Mandatory "No travel" days that we get here in Buffalo after a bad snow storm, she is EXPECTED at work and must take a sick day of she does not report.

Some guy making $7 an hour at the casino or someplace at the port, is probably now out of work if he doesn't show up the next day and the evacuation was unnecessary. You can't judge all decisions with the power of hindsight, some people I'm sure did what they felt they had to.
