Josh Allen turnover narrative, rollercoaster narrative...

I've heard this narrative brought up every time Allen is discussed in mainstream circles. 

 

 

Allen career int percentage 2.3%

 

Drew Brees career int percentage 2.3%

 

Josh Allen int % since 2019 including the playoffs, 2.1 %

 

Allen .9 int % in the playoffs ( lowest all time)

 

Montana 2.9 int % in the playoffs 

 

Allen also has the lowest turnover percentage in NFL playoff history from what I read. I haven't confirmed if that's true. But it's certainly extremely low 

 

I then read that since the turnover worthy stat was created, Allen is top 5 in the least amount of turnover worthy plays in the playoffs...

 

Allen ints in first 121 starts- 93 int

Tom Brady in first 121 starts - 91 int

 

Allen from 18-23 78 int , 107 total turnovers 

Tom Brady from 01- 06, 78 int , 101 total turnovers 

 

Allen in 2024 had the lowest amount of negative plays in NFL history, fumbles, ints and sacks....

 

 

I'm not saying Allen is perfect, and he can definitely be streaky sometimes, but these numbers not only suggest the narrative is wrong, but that it's actually the opposite. Especially in the biggest pressure moments.

 

 

Why does this keep being brought up every time Allen is discussed. I find it bizarre

Allen 85 ints.  2.1% int percentage 

Mahomes 78 ints 1 7% int percentage 

 

I use 19 because Allen was in year 2 and Mahomes didn't start until year 2 

 

If you then start in 2020

 

The difference is 5 ints over the entire time span from 20 to the present....

 

Even if you include all 18 to 23, and you include all the turnovers, it's literally only 7 more than Brady. Yet Allen passed and ran more, and Allen had to play as a rookie, Brady didn't....

I don’t know we need to bring up any more stats comparing Allen to anyone. There is only one matters, fair or not: Super Bowls. I’m pretty sure he knows it.

Another thing I appreciate about Allen, is that despite his efficiency he doesn’t seem to try to protect his stats. He will throw up a 50/50 ball before he’s ready on a critical down to try to win the game if that’s what the situation calls for.

 

I can’t even count the number of times I’ve seen Lamar Jackson eat a sack rather than take a risk downfield.

I can't anymore w/ the Allen narratives.

 

I've lost track of the # of "Allen always chokes in the playoffs" comments I've seen from other fans. When he has basically been immaculate.  And if he's reverting a bit this year on the turnovers, it's pretty obvious why to those of us who watch the team every week.  No one to throw to, no one open, and just trying to make something happen - because if he doesn't, we'll lose.

Based on what we have, likely 2 scenarios for Allen and the bills to go over the superbowl hump. The Peyton Manning way and the John Elway way. The former way requires excessively driven QB making the right moves along with the team and getting the breaks from the main competitors. I thought this year is one of that for the Bills earlier in the season but soon proved to not be the case. The latter way means there is a management change and we are lucky enough to get someone who can maximize a declining qb talent but with enough cheap young talent to push us over the top.

With Josh getting better about turnovers over the last year and a half I’m very excited that fans aren’t defending Josh’s “arm punts” any more. I hated it when people would justify his ints with the term. Never was a thing until a couple

of years ago, glad it’s dead

People put more emphasis on the Ints these days then they have in the past.  
 

How many of Josh’s came on 3rd and long or 4th down. Before no one gave a ***** about that. How many go for pick 6s? Before that is what you didn’t want, now no one seems to give a *****. Especially when it’s Mahommes or Lamar throwing them.
