We've driven past Pitt traveling between NC and Buffalo for over 30 yrs and only a few years ago decided to stop and check it out - did a lot of the stuff mentioned and had a good time.  Now each year we try to stop at least once on way to/from to take in a baseball game.  I found it to be a nice little city to walk around (including river walk) - and definitely nice park see a game

The first time we stayed Downtown, but now for a quick stop to see a game we've been staying on North Shore - convenient for game and everything is still walkable if you wanted to go across the river to Downtown, Point etc.  Never seen a ghost.

Pittsburgh is a really nice city, but the metro area has always been strange to me. As great as the city is, the suburbs don’t seem like somewhere I’d want to live. There’s a lot of sprawl and some of the areas outside of the city are rough looking former industrial towns. I agree though, the city itself did a great building around its strengths.

Living in Pittsburgh, nobody ever talks about Heinz Field/Acrisure being haunted... or ghost tours/etc --- this is definitely an interesting take.

If you're traveling in for a couple days, the typical touristy things to do:

1. Mt Washington --- amazing views, great/expensive restaurants

2. the Incline

3. Walking Point State Park

4. Strip District --- so many shops to walk to, this is the most cultural part of the city

5. Keep driving past strip district and you'll  hit some great food spots, Lawrenceville to Point Breeze

6. Primantis - you'll find a ton around the city

7. Market Square

8. Tons of museums, science center, etc

9. Rivers Casino

Hit me up if you need any tips on parking, where to stay/eat, etc.

EDIT: and I was at the 1996 Bills vs Steeler playoff game, my first experience at a game as a 13-year old.  Had a cousin who played LB for the Steelers, sat in the players' "family section" -- got plenty of dirty looks/my dad had to deal with lots of heckling fans every time I stood up yelling

Yeah, living in PGH I can say this is the first I've heard of it.  Great list of things to do, btw.  For those interested in history/subs, there is a WW2 era sub docked at the Science Center that you can tour (It's right by the stadium).  Also, a lot of interesting mid 1700's history here and the French and Indian War history (including the Point).

Pitt also plays Miami on Saturday, so a good chance to root against Miami!

You must be traveling to the wrong suburbs.

South Hills/Mt Lebo, Sewickley (northwest of city), North Hills/Cranberry all amazing areas.  Go a little further north, Zelienople great small town feel.

It is haunted, and I am living proof.

In 1996, the Bills were headed to Pittsburgh for a playoff game. I read in the paper that Bruce Smith was listed as doubtful due to the "flu." I was beyond furious. I called him everything but a child of God. Flu? I can't express how much of a wimp I considered him to be. We lost, and Bruce was just so great we may have won with him in there. Who knows?

Well, a week or two later I was driving home and was freezing on not the coldest day. i was so cold put on the heater full blast. Walking from my drivway to the house I was shivering, and had the worst flu of my lifetime. I lost 14 pounds in a week, and was hallucinating yellow and red cartoons on my bedroom wall. On the 4th day I was able to eat half pice of toast with no butter and a few sips of black tea. I realized that I would more than likely live. That same flu today would surely kill me and I am the first on line for flu shots.

My point? I was just so angry at Bruce for not playing. I wanted him to go to Pittsburgh and play professional football with that flu in 20 degree weather, and it turned out that making it from my bed to the bathroom was barely if at all possible.

I guarantee that others on this board remember that game. Bruce wound up in the hospital as I recall. Well, karma came around to haunt me for my judgemental rant lol.

I met my Wife in 2021 here in Arizona. She's from Pittsburgh, and a Steeler fan. We were cleaning out our storage area last year and came across a poem she wrote before that game kicked off. It makes mention of Bruce being out. 😂 I'll see if I can find it again and post it
