Any idea why local Bills media feel obligated to act as Bills PR?

Anytime fans or outside media has any bit of criticism or concern, one of the local media write, post or say something as if it was handed to them by Bills PR to spread.

Does the Bills media suddenly run Pro Football Focus? The Bills didn’t make that up. They didn’t invent a stat to refute those who don’t know what they are watching.

No but people do quote those stats to refute what others see with their eyes 🤷🏽‍♂️

Either that or some of you think there is ANYTHING the same about Parsons and Rousseau's impact on games of football in which case 🤣🤣🤣

Stats are stats. I can’t speak for your eyes. Are you saying the stat is wrong, or you just don’t care about such things?

I would say they are almost polar opposites in style, yet the edge setter has the same pressure rate as the designated freelance QB hunter? Go figure. I think we just have a lot of frustrated fans who need somebody to blame. There is plenty to go around, but they might be barking up the wrong tree here.

OH, and let’s not forget Groot has an AAV of $20Mil, while Parson’s AAV is $47Mil. That’s not nothing.

Yeah and everyone here was so happy in 2023 with Bernard.  He had all these fumble recoveries, think an Int or so.  Recall reading one article after the season that stated Bernard is very good at making splash plays, but little elsewhere.  And that article proved true over past two seasons.

As for Rousseau, from an article today in the BN.  Again same thing, no splash plays as in sacks so he's terrible.   The only thing that's really terrible is the ability of most posters here to evaluate talent.  Likely if Groot got some better help on the line the sacks would come.

Greg Rousseau's win rate on pass-rush snaps (30.2%) in Weeks 9 through 12 was tied with the Packers' Micah Parson for the fourth-best mark among NFL edge rushers, according to Pro Football Focus. Rousseau's eight run stops during that span are tied for second most.

Bernard had a tremendous 2023.   Most splash plays by an inside/middle LB since Urlacher in the early 2000's.   Super smart, instinctive player and the Bills best pass rusher.  Just.......for some reason.........they decided to quit trying to be big and force double teams at one-tech.   Perhaps because they didn't have to justify Edmunds 1st round status any longer.

That was fine if they were just going to chew Bernard up and spit him out and draft another guy to play the middle but he's much too small to hold up to the beating of being in the middle of a two LB system without a space eating 1T.    Extending him with time left was stupid.  On defense, safeties and LB's are usually the positions most allowed to hit free agency.   There will be 3-5 relatively big name LB's that they could have replaced Bernard with this offseason.

They should have let Bernard play it out and see if he survives if that's the way you are playing it.

To @Avisan point.......they should have done with Edmunds what the Bears have done to get the most out of Edmunds(currently on IR, fwiw).   The Bears moved him to outside LB.

Rousseau has been pretty consistent at being Rousseau.  Beane is the guy who chose to pay him.

Let’s not forget, he’s getting paid maybe half of what the top guys are getting. Groot has an AAV of $20mil, while Parsons is $47 mil and Myles Garrett is $40mil. TJ Watt gets $41mil, Hutchinson $45mil. Let’s not act like he’s getting top dollar for the position. He’s not.  He’s paid somewhere around where he belongs, imo, and I have no problem with the value.

Do you think it makes sense to pay a Robin who sets the EDGE and is primarily a run defender before you find a legit pass rusher?

We let Edmunds walk because he never made splash plays, was going to get paid, but the argument was he alters the way opponents attack us in the pass game.

If the FO couldn’t justify paying big money for that then how do they justify paying big money for a Robin DE who primarily functions as a plus run defender?

You do realize that he is being paid like a Robin, right? He’s getting less than half of what the top guys are getting with his $20mil AAV. Parsons gets $47mil, Hutchinson $45mil, TJ Watt $41mil, Garrett $40mil, etc. You pay your good football players, and he’s one of them whether you like it or not. No, he’s not Aiden Hutchinson, and he’s getting paid accordingly.

Take off the angry colored glasses and you might see this more clearly.
