Stevie Johnson, Kyle Williams, Christian Benford... Tyrell Shavers...?

Could Tyrell Shavers be the next in line? 

 

We all saw what he did in preseason.  Granted, it's preseason... but he had a great game against the Bucs and it wasn't just on the TD.  I heard a stat yesterday that he was getting a ton of separation on all of his routes and in Joe Marino's All-22 he talked about how good Shavers played overall.  He looks like a MUCH more natural WR than Keon.  This isn't perfect because Shavers was actually a UDFA in 2023 rather than 2024, but he stuck around and gained the most attention last offseason and I think a lot people believe he's a 2nd year player.  I think we're all rooting for him, but I think based on McDermott's and Allen's PCs this week he may have earned himself a legitimate shot to become the WR Keon was supposed to be.

 

 

 

Shavers came out a year BEFORE Keon though. He had two years on the PS before he broke the roster.

Maybe it will be Deone Walker who  outperforms TJ Sanders. Only two rounds separate them, but same position and many of us are projecting a very high ceiling for Walker already. Ideally they both work out. Beane took a lot of DBs in the last draft too, but Max seems legit and we need him to be. Can’t afford another Elam and need some high end talent on rookie deals.

Shavers had a very good game but I am not going to get super excited yet about his future with the team. Let him prove it consistently and then we can dance the jig.

I am all for rooting for the underdog and we are due for a bit of good luck with our draft picks . But I don't want to set myself up for disappointment. 

If he ends up being mentioned in the same breath as Kyle Williams due to his career with the Bills , we would all be very happy

I would not expect that 

 

But he seems like the type of guy who's a hard worker and a core special teamer.. just blossoming into his own as a wide receiver 

 

Where we could probably pick them up for 2 or 3 years as a cheap number four option... With the occasional ability to play a bigger role 

 

At this point he clearly is a decent number four or five.. when his number gets called he usually doesn't disappoint 

 

I would sign him to a modest special teamer fourth wide receiver contract... He's not going to be expensive and he is getting better

We don't have to worry about that until 2027. He's already under contract for next year.
