they probably will because they CAN. I honestly think that rule needs to be changed. One man, if capable, SHOULD be able to decide games. Pitching around him to me reads chicken. I want to see greatness. jmo

Well ya it's a strategy that is debated amongst baseball purists

You would never see Randy Johnson intentionally walk a guy like shohei.. it would be May the best man win the at bat

I do take that back and I just looked it up.. Randy Johnson did intentionally walk Barry bonds with The bases loaded in like 1998... Winning nine to seven, walked in the eighth run

And then finish the game lol

I know WHY they do it.  I am speaking from a novice fan perspective and Im sure the strategy to WIN makes it acceptable. Neuters the competition

bah humbug.

Honest question: did teams do it to Babe Ruth? Maybe they did.

He was when he was hitting 60 home runs a year... Typically when bases were loaded to just give up one run and not the Grand slam

I agree with you... Sure it's a solid strategy but I'd rather see be at bat.. you either have what it takes to get him out or you don't

Achieving greatness is not as difficult when you literally buy all of the best available  players and have a $415M payroll.

One of the many reasons I never got into baseball... I'll watch the WS but that's it.

He’s certainly looked that way plenty times!

That's why your comment made perfect sense lol

He basically is the closest thing to a baseball player made in a laboratory but he still is human

I was telling my father before the game sure he might have some of the most dominant stuff but their pros on the other side too.. and if you could just make solid contact to ball you could definitely hit the ball hard against him

Big power swings will probably get you cooked but if you just get bat to the ball which sounds easier said than done he has the ability to be hit

I don’t want to run him down in any way but I can name a bunch of pitchers better than him.  He’s very good but I wouldn’t call him great.  Hitters?  Not so much.  The fact that he does both?  Ridiculous.

I mean he doesn't really pitch that much now I never said he was the best pitcher in the world just that he could be an ace

He has great strikeout numbers and a 3.0 era in his career which is very respectable including being under 3.0 this year

100 plus mile an hour fastball, his splitter was always ridiculous, hard slider

like I said his elbow injuries have kind of hampered his pitching career but his pitching talent is still very good just not consistent ... He has more strikeouts than babe Ruth

His batting is obviously what's brought him the MVPs but being able to pitch with a 3.0 era on top of that is ridiculous
