Musk attended a celebratory rally at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., where he thanked the attendees for voting for Trump. Musk jumped onto the stage, started throwing his hands in the air, and then began to dance. After he finished dancing, Musk placed his hand to his heart and extended his arm out above his head with his palm facing down, making a straight-arm gesture. He then turned around and repeated the gesture to the audience behind him. He then said: "My heart goes out to you. And I believe that is the real explanation.

Back in my harder libertarian days, I used to quote William F. Buckley's famous line: "I would rather be governed by the first 535 names in the Boston phone book than by the people in our Congress." I've learned my lesson the hard way. Think about these "political outsiders" who got some traction in state or national races: Ross Perot. Jesse Ventura. That trans-loving governor candidate in NC. This nutcase in Maine. In my Colorado I was ready to vote for a Republican Governor candidate back in 2010, running against Denver's insufferable Mayor (now Senator) John Hickenlooper. And the Republicans nominated this fool as the "outsider/insurgent candidate." The Republican Party in Colorado hasn't been the same since. Right now I can only think of one "outsider" in recent memory who has been up to the job: good old Arnie in California. Today's Trumpies complain about him, but he did as much as any Republican could to drag California kicking and screaming into semi-sanity. No more "outsiders" please. I want to know who you are and what you stand for. EDIT: on the local level, a couple outsiders who I think were really good mayors - Riordan (LA) and Bloomberg (NYC) Edited 3 hours ago by The Frankish Reich

I want to know who you are and what you stand for. He looks like he’ll get through this with polling showing him far ahead of Mills in the D Primary. I get the allure. The only chance Dems have of winning back any segment of men is by running these types of candidates who are very rough around the edges and appeal to the same populist viewpoint that has turned conservatism into MAGA. That is the real reason Bernie, Pod Save America, Krystal Ball etc support him. They need him to be able to win in order to usher in leadership that appeals to men. If Platner is run out of the Maine race or Mills defeats him, it symbolically reaffirms the idea that the Democrat Party is that of MSNBC boomers, single women and black folks. That coalition is dependent upon winning independents and latinos at a 60% clip, which hasn’t been trending that way lately. It’s not really about Platner. It’s about what he represents for the future of the party. Especially with growing inroads from Islamist leaders pushing socialism within the party. It’s a lot easy to soft launch socialism when it comes from a “working class” white dude. 1

In March 2018, he recounted in explicit detail what he described as a “gay off” between Marines and British sailors in Bahrain: “Pull into Bahrain in ’07 on a MEU, a Royal Navy submarine happens to be in port at the same time. … Before we even realize what’s going on, the other weird bastard just leans down and licks the damn thing from the bottom of the ballsack all the way up to the top of the dick. Stands up, looks dead at us and yells ‘BEAT THAT!’ … I proudly withdrew our team on the grounds that one cannot play gay chicken if one is actually gay.”
