i wouldn't mind moving on from groot and a pick or 2 and see if we can pick up a safety. i wouldn't mind if we kicked the tires on trey hendrickson. if we trade groot that should take care of the money situation.

why is justin simmons still available? i don't get it. at least put him on a PS somewhere.

There’s a chance that he might not want to join a ps and would rather sit and wait for the right opportunity, maybe due to injury.

or maybe no one wants him.  😂

I’d feel a lot more comfortable about the S position if we had him.  I was hoping for the 2024 version of Rapp.  So far, it looks like we have the 2016 version of Donte Whitner.  I’d love to see Hancock get a shot but I don’t thinks there’s any chance McD starts him over Rapp.

What are the chances that Damar Hamlin is the reason we aren’t looking to upgrade Safety?  If we signed someone, who would be cut?  My vote would be Damar….Hancock is young, athletic and under rookie contract.  Cam Lewis isn’t going anywhere.  Ingram might cut when Hairston and the DL returns.  Does the FO want Damar on the team and in the locker room at the expense of upgrading the position?  Give me Simmons.

No. Groot is the workhorse DE. Bosa is near the end of his career and can't be counted on. Plus Groot just signed a contract and can't be traded/released without handicapping us. In my book, this last year at Highmark and next 2 seasons in the new stadium is the best windows for superbowl, assuming the recent picks panning out while the current extensions still in their prime.

It is common in the past when a guy gets paid, his production dips - it's human nature where you worked really hard to see your fruits of labor and ... there is no new fruits and you relax and enjoy a bit. But in NFL if you don't push forward and just stand still, you actually fall behind. Does Marcel Dareus ring a bell? Super motivated guys, guys want to wear yellow jackets will never let that happen. Good guys will realize the mistake and pick up the hard work to get back on track (they do have the talent). So I do expect Rousseau to have good years ahead, even if not this year.

Jeffrey Simmons.

He's one of the best DT's in the league, Id put him right up there with Chris Jones.  He's owed $18M in cash this year (prorated 1/18 per week) so essentially if you trade for him after week 8 you'd owe him $10M. He's under contract for the following 2 years as well ('26 and '27 season) at a total of $44M, which is a bargain for a player of his caliber.

The compensation package would have to be huge and would start with a 1st rounder plus in my opinion, but I think he's worth it.

For a 1st a 4th and a cheap young DT like Sanders or Walker Id do it. Simmons is the type of player Beane has been after for years, they're so hard to find

new contracts are usually very untradeable
