Rich Stadium Original Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Haven't seen it anywhere else on the board here, but wondering if I was the only one cringing at Josh Allens stiff arm on his 40 yard run Sunday. Thought the run was great, and Romo even mentioned the wherewithal to switch the arm he was carrying the ball with to decrease the risk of a punch out. But where I cringed is where he used a stiff arm WITH HIS THROWING HAND to try to gain a few extra yards..especially around the face mask of the defender..where he could have easily jammed/broken/sprained/lacerated/dislocated finger(s) on HIS THROWING HAND. Truly appreciate the effort, but the time out of the lineup is not worth a few extra yards on the play in my opinion... 1 3 1 Quote
Mooshocker12 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Ok. Tell Josh that.....I'm sure he will listen. Not that I don't agree with you, I just think he is a baller and will do whatever he can to get that extra yard or 20. Excellent point however! 1 1 Quote

Going outta bounds 40 yards down field in Game 2, is not it! Going down field towards the GL in the AFC Championship… IS! Don’t do stupid shite 17! (See Joe Burrow). 1 1 Quote
Walking Tall Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I did cringe. Not going to lie. Hate to see him dislocate or break a finger. 1 Quote
transient Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I don't think he switched the ball to his left hand for security... I think he did it so that he could stiff arm the defender. Without re-watching the play, IIRC, his stiff arm didn't really connect, and it would have been more of a push, AND if it did connect and was successful he would basically have had a clear path to the endzone. Allen plays big boy football. 1 Quote
GunnerBill Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I didn't spot it but would have cringed if I had. I also didn't like the run inside the 5 where he could get out near sideline and while he does slow up enough to avoid a major hit he still gets a bump from the defender for the sake of an extra yard. If that's the AFCCG - sure, take bump. It's week 2 at the Jets up big, just get out of bounds untouched. Quote
elroy16 Posted 21 minutes ago Posted 21 minutes ago I would imagine the coaches talked to him about it. His whole career there have been discussions about taking unnecessary hits and that was certainly one of them. I love that he's not scared of contact and will do anything to get those extra yards, but there's time and place. I'm pretty surprised people are giving you grief for bringing this up. I love Josh too, but he's not perfect. He missed some throws and the intentional grounding where he back handed it and it didn't get back to the line was dumb as hell. There's something about the Jets that he plays pretty pedestrian. Quote
BigPappy Posted 3 minutes ago Posted 3 minutes ago Josh isn't the type of player to let a broken or dilocated finger slow him down. I wouldn't even be shocked if he started slinging it left handed. (sarcasm) Quote
