Those on the side of cheering a murder on social media for the world to see probably have a different opinion. I really hope that people have consistent views on whether or not individuals should be "canceled" for exercising their right of free speech, no matter their political affiliation. 1

What happened to “freedom of speech isn’t freedom from consequences”? Your own medicine not tasting good? Here this might help. 1

I am simply observing that once staunch critics of so called "cancel culture" are now celebrating the latest examples. My thoughts on yesterday's tragic murder have already been shared. Have you? 1

Are you advocating for freedom from consequences? Has that ever been a thing? It’s less about people’s political affiliation in this case and more about their inability to conduct themselves as decent humans. Why would any business want to be associated with it?

Fwiw.. while I do believe in freedom of speech and credit Democrats crackdown on speech during Covid as a huge turning point to pushing me right.. I also would call for the firing of anyone if a Hasan Piker was killed and a conservative teacher, nurse etc was cheering it. Its ghoulish, inhumane behavior that has no place in a civilized society. BillsFanNC Posted September 11 Author Posted September 11 Most people in the work force know that HR departments are going to check your socials for any red flags before hiring you. Along the same lines, posting crap incompatible with basic civil society once you're employed is fair game to get you terminated as well. Not sure why this is hard to understand. Wait, yes i do. 1 1
SCBills Posted September 11 Posted September 11 (edited) It’s just nonstop… mainly teachers. Shocking, I know.. A quick scroll of X and you’ll come across 20 of them. All exposed by various RW accounts. All linked to their employer. All employers pages flooded with hundreds, thousands of demands for the firing of said individual. Updates from the school, hospital etc., that the person has been fired hours later. and repeat. Never seen anything like this in my life. Edited September 11 by SCBills 2 1

Freedom of speech has never meant freedom from consequences, whether you're calling some dude on the subway an N-bomb or celebrating a gruesome murder. But in this age its hard to cry for someone who lacks the judgement not to post something so over the top on their own facebook page. Now public sector "canceling" for matters of freedom of speech is an entirely different matter. I just cannot stand watching the same people who condemn so called "cancel culture" as an existential threat to western society now celebrate it as it suits them.

Blame the corporations for trying to protect their interests by creating such policies. Your cancel culture angle is very weak
BillsFanNC Posted September 11 Author Posted September 11 This guy crawled out of retirement earlier today. Seems like many took his post to heart. And honestly I don't care if the left wants to call this cancel culture FUK.C YOU Time to play by your own rules. 1
