Thanks for sending me this "fact check". You were right.  I was wrong.   I Said  President Biden got 4  deferments while your fact check says he got 5.

 

This what I love about fact checks. They disprove a small part on a technicality and then claim the whole thing as mostly false.

 

He got 5 deferments and then had a medical exam and somehow got diagnosed with asthma even though he had been on the football team.  This in 1968, the year with the most US serviceman deaths n the whole war.  https://www.militaryfactory.com/vietnam/casualties.php How convenient.

 

I agree with @sherpa somewhat. It was easy to get out of being drafted if you had money to go to college. And then if the war is still going on when you graduate, go to grad school.  I also agree with him it was a dumb/criminal war.  But I can't just wave it off as he does. Where the rubber meets the road, for every college student that was deferred, some schmuck that couldn't afford to go to college was drafted and went and maybe didn't come back.  

 

This is my biggest gripe with President Biden.  He deferred himself with  4 5  deferments yet was more than happy to send other people and other people's kids to the quagmire that was Iraq.

Deferred for college is not the same as being deferred by a private doctor for bone spurs. It sounds like Biden’s physical exam was done by a military doctor do u know differently?

Two other things:  do you agree that giving up one’s citizenship is easy? Do you know of any posts where Sherpa clearly disagreed with trump policy?

Virginia Beach is not Williamsburg. We had a nice afternoon but I wouldn’t plan to spend a weekend there. Headed back to James city area now.
