Nah bro, you're moving the goal post from your original assertion that firing over a highway was something crazy/unheard of.

Own it.

my finding fault with a military exercise closing a freeway during a Worldwide protest event. Can I make myself any clearer my position on this subject?

Not a biggie on my opinion. Peaceful protest, by all accounts no violence or damage, no rioting.

Accomplished absolutely nothing, big echo chamber, but hey like someone said a bunch of seniors and purple hair people exercised their constitutional rights and got some fresh air.

No Kings: The Lunatics Are Running The Asylum

"Do you have any idea how crazy you are?"

Sasha Stone

cd64d496-d80d-40ec-8e14-c82247760b8b_836

“If the rule you are following has led you to this, of what use was the rule?”
”Do you have any idea how crazy you are?”
”You mean the nature of this conversation?”
”I mean the nature of you.”

So goes an exchange in No Country for Old Men, but it’s a conversation the Democrats might have with themselves as they gather for yet another protest after ten years of them. If the rule you are following has led you to this, of what use was the rule?”

Protests are meant to be the voices of the unheard. Yet these protests are the voices of those who never shut up. Not for one minute, not for ten years, and all of us have had to endure them like being trapped inside Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory with hundreds of thousands of Veruca Salts.

What are their No Kings protests anyway? What have they been since 2016? What are they trying to say? Is it like the ex who smashes all the dishes in the kitchen when her husband tries to leave? I won’t be ignored, DONALD.

What’s the point of it? To what end now? Of what use was the rule?

The voices of the unheard? More like the side that had everything. All the media, all the institutions, all the culture, and for a time, all of the government. The people had only Trump.

They gathered their small donations and, by some miracle, voted him in, because they had a right to be represented, because this is their country too. It was a revolutionary act that mounted some sort of opposition to a movement that had swallowed up much of American society and demanded that we all go along or be left behind.

They managed to have the mother of all protests in the Summer of 2020, smashing windows, burning buildings, beating up cops, and throwing massive fits that said WE’RE MAD! But mad at what? Democracy? Sorry, you lost an election?

I try to remember being one of them and feeling the same way. But why did we think we had the right to protest an election just because it didn’t go our way? And not just protest, but protest all of the time over everything. Because we had all the power and we couldn’t stand to compromise with the other half of the country. They had to go, MAGA had to go. We canceled them. They’re racists, we said.

Elections only counted if the Democrats won. The other side was not allowed to win, try to make a change, or fight for their right to representation. Not in 2016 and not in 2024. So the protests will not end because the people have to be made to suffer for their vote.

{snip}

They shun anyone who votes for Trump. They treat the other half of the country like toxic waste. They have no way to attract new voters. Who would want anything to do with them? Sure, they still have lots of money and enthusiastic psychotic delusional voters, not to mention the legacy media and Hollywood.

In their imaginary world, Trump is a king, a dictator, and a fascist when in reality, he’s just the guy they could not destroy or defeat. It’s never been Trump.

America is exhausted. Ten years of the 19th nervous breakdowns the Left has been having over Trump, only to lose to him again in 2024, and probably to JD Vance in 2028 and 2032, is enough. The Democrats are doubling down on the very thing that makes them so repellent to voters. Helplessness and temper tantrums are no way to lead anyone anywhere.

Good Lord, "world wide protest event" lol. You're acting like it was hands across America or something.

They do this all the time, usually on weekends and it was probably scheduled well in advance of the hippies and septum rings deciding to go hold signs in the park.

So there you have it. In cities with millions of people there might be 5,000-6,000 turning out. Far fewer than routinely pay to turn up for baseball games.

They will add at least one zero to whatever the real numbers are and claim this shows "the people" have all decided something.

But the people did all decide something last November and nothing that happens today will change that.

Overall, I think these protests tend to follow a pretty steep law of diminishing returns.

That's certainly what happened with the Women's March. The first one was legitimately large and by year 3 there was very little momentum left.

In this case, I think the No Kings rallies in June were probably bigger. I suspect if they do this a third time it will be obvious that the crowds have shrunk.

They'll have to come up with a new label and start over.

My most humble apologies madam. User names don't always convey gender accurately.

But now it's a joke. Mkay. Keep moving them posts. Adds up actually. My wife, after taking a profoundly stupid position and then being called out, will often make the same claim

this was an international protest in other countries than the USA.

Participating countries

In addition to all 50 U.S. states and territories, international demonstrations were reported in the following countries and territories:

Australia

Austria

Canada

Denmark

England (United Kingdom)

France

Germany

Iceland

Ireland

Italy

Mexico

Netherlands

Panama

Portugal

Spain

Sweden

Switzerland

British Virgin Islands

While the primary focus was on U.S. politics, the rallies in other countries were held in solidarity with American protesters. In countries with established monarchies, protesters reportedly adapted their signs with slogans like “No Tyrants” to align with the anti-authoritarian theme.

Taking Stock of What 'No Kings' Accomplished

Eric Florack

FTA:

How many people went to this farce? I did gather a few examples before I went to bed last night. NBC reports that there were some 3,000 marching in Boston, a city of about 676,000 people. That's 0.443% of the good people of Boston deciding to participate. In Huntsville, Alabama, a city of about 300,000 people, they managed to gather up around 1,200 for their performance. Uh, folks, my admittedly rusty math tells me they got around 0.4% of that city's population too. Reports from other cities that I checked were of a similar paltry nature, usually smaller in percentage, even, than these examples.

Pulling back for a broader view doesn't help those numbers. The immensely, reliably accurate NBC reports that the "No Kings" organizers claimed to have gathered up the impressive sounding number of around 7 million marchers nationwide. I’m not going to impugn the honesty of the organizers by suggesting they pulled that number out of thin air, so let’s go with what we are given:

At the last census, the population of the kingdom—err sorry, the country—was 347 million people. Not including illegals of course. So that 7 million they managed to scrape up constitutes around 2% of the population. Indeed the only places they got any kind of serious crowds were in the deepest of deep-blue cities. The rest of the country seemingly declined the invitation to look like an idiot for the cameras. And those figures make the assumption that the protesters were all legally in the country. I think we have a really good working definition for performative protests.

Honestly, I expected a better showing. I can hear Marvin the Martian complaining: "Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom!"

Still, that great effort resulted in us having no kings. Just like the day before. So, great job. You got what you wanted.

Well you sure got me there!

It became pointless when you realized your assertion was wrong and your position indefensible. But you just couldn't admit it. :) 😂

Haaaaa! No Kings Rally Was So Organic They Literally Handed Out Instructions on How to Protest (Pic).

It's hard for people like me, you know, sane people, to take any protest or rally seriously when the people protesting and rallying aren't really sure why they're there in the first place. For example, protesting kings in a country that hasn't had a king in nearly 250 years is just dumb. I imagine there was a bunch of Lefties sitting around in a group one night, braiding each other's armpit hair, talking about how much they hate that Trump won again, and came up with what they thought was a clever theme.
