Go right ahead. Argue more spending is needed and the mission of DOGE was a waste. DOGE is the first significant effort to cut. And it has. It’s still going to do so moving forward. And Democrats are going to make a case to the American people living paycheck to paycheck to paycheck or handout to handout the federal government can spend however much it wants? Good luck with that. And in no way am I circle jerking to the bill. It’s the best solution for the moment. It’s imperfect. But it’s far better than what Democrats would do to this country. 1

ICE keeps our borders safe, something you obviously don't care about. The only failure is the dems. Cope, seethe and cry. 1 1 1

It’ll sell better than your side’s argument that people should pay more for less choice at the store. Straight out of the USSR playbook. Again, if you were so damn worried about the deficit, you wouldn’t be supporting a bill that adds to it as much as this bill does. It’s the same as any GOP president.

Doc Brown Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago All they really needed to do was extend the TCJA and defund some of Biden's big spending ineffective programs. However, they took care of their SALT buddies. Now a guy working as a car mechanic in Alabama can subsidize a doctor in NY making $450k a year. No taxes on tips and no taxes on overtime means that workers who don't work for tips or are offered overtime can subsidize those who do. Now the bill will pass and fiscal conservatives will raise their hands in the air and say "well, we had to make concessions to make it through because of the slim majority." Basically, business as usual. That's fine but let's not pretend Trump isn't part of the establishment when this bill goes through.
The Frankish Reich Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago 2 hours ago, Big Blitz said: Not true in the least. You can’t have it both ways. Complain about DOGE being this threat to the bureaucracy and the deep state - then say it was always a fraud. The frauds are the Dems and media that vilified it. We don’t have the votes - thanks to Democrats and low info Americans - to make the cuts and reforms necessary to make significant dents in the debt. It’s just a fact. So for now it will need to be incremental. DOGE is just the start. Americans in future elections are going to be asked - what are we doing about the debt? The Democrat response will be more taxes and magic. DOGE was amazingly ... inefficient. Look at the proposed defense budget. Remember when Elon said "Defense is next." Umm, right. Do we have any idea what the Golden Dome will cost when all is said and done? Whether it is considered a vital defense interest? Whether it is actually workable with current technology? And that's just the biggest one of many, many others.
Joe Ferguson forever Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Who knew Massie was so poetic? https://www.mediaite.com/media/news/house-republican-shreds-trumps-big-beautiful-bill-as-titanic-level-debt-bomb/ “Very soon,” he said. “The government will be paying $16,000 of interest, interest alone, per U.S. family.” He estimated that under the bill’s taxing and spending levels, the national debt could balloon by as much as $30 trillion over the next decade. “Congress can do funny math, fantasy math, if it wants,” Massie added. “But bond investors don’t.” “We’re not rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic tonight. We’re putting coal in the boiler and setting a course for the iceberg,” he warned. Before yielding, the congressman sniped at his Republican colleagues hoping to push the bill through while America slept: “If something is beautiful, you don’t do it after midnight.” Edited 4 hours ago by Joe Ferguson forever
