That said, would you acknowledge the average American (and most posters here), know very little about politics in Canada, the players in the game and how their system operates? From a purely personal perspective, with Canadian relatives and having spent considerable time across the bridge—-I’d like to see a respectful, mutually beneficial and peaceful co-existence. The new guy says he wants to “take on the Americans”, so let’s see where that takes us. Perhaps we’ll ultimately get to the bottom of debate about fair trade and mutual benefit. There is no mutual benefit. Canada is subsidized by the US in dollars and protection while pushing a global socialist agenda. We are not friends anymore than a tick is friends with a deer. There never was going to be any kind of fair trade agreement no matter who won. America is doing what's best for Americans and that means taking back all of our jobs from Canada and Mexico. Companies are investing in the US. The more Canada resists the easier it will be. They are about to FAFO 1

Each country should act in its best interest, but taking one small example—tourism is good. The flow of goods across the border is of mutual benefit. On a local, micro level—Canadians coming across the border to support the Bills is good for us, and for them. I think the Canadian affinity for speedos is bad, quite in fact, but beyond that, the rest can be worked out. Getting back to Frank’s question, Trump’s continued commentary on 51st State is bad. 1

Let's think this through. Who do you think wins the trade war that's about to happen? Canada relies on the US for 75% of their trade. This idiot they elected will say they are going to fight back against Trump, retaliate, Trump will have every right to retaliate again and again. As part of whatever trade deals with other countries Trump could easily say don't do business with Canada if you want to do business with us. Canada should have licked Trump's boots and he might have showed them some mercy. This is going to be painful. 3 minutes ago, leh-nerd skin-erd said: I disagree with your premise and suggestion that there is a parasitic relationship. The 51st state commentary just got him an adversary to be elected. Now there is a face for the enemy for his supporters to all rally around. Think of how powerful that is to completely sway another country's election. I can't believe they fell for it. 1 1

They will go to other counties. It’s already happening; Britain just announced a new trade agreement with the EU (meaning the dismal failure known as Brexit is coming to an end). China is urging countries to stand up to Trump. Globalism and free trade will always win. It’s too bad that Americans will have to suffer because of Trump’s hubris and insipid ego. It’s so strange that it took just a few months of 51st state rhetoric from Trump to completely program you. What does that say about you?

Overall, the model predicts that almost 73% of respondents who missed all 10 questions would vote for Trump (remember, that is controlling for education and the other factors), while about 51% who were average on the exam are expected to vote for Trump. Only 35% of people who had a perfect score on the exam are predicted to be Trump supporters. Notably, this very strong, significant effect of verbal ability can be identified within educational groups. While non-college whites certainly turned out more heavily for Trump, the smart ones did not — only 38% of those with perfect scores are expected to go for Trump, and only 46% of non-college graduates who scored a standard deviation above the mean. The same is true for college graduates — low cognition college graduates were more likely to vote for Trump. ... What is really depressing isn't just the poles of the vocabulary exam, it's the average. The mean and median of the scale is 6 — so half of white Americans missed 4 of the easy vocabulary questions. https://www.salon.com/2022/03/23/new-research-on-voters-theyre-not-the-sharpest-tools-in-the-box/ Edited April 29 by Joe Ferguson forever 1

Before the testosterone treatment, we found that weakly affiliated Democrats had 19% higher basal testosterone than those who identified strongly with the party (p=0.015). When weakly affiliated Democrats received additional testosterone, the strength of their party fell by 12% (p=.01) and they reported 45% warmer feelings towards Republican candidates for president (p < 0.001). Our results demonstrate that testosterone induces a “red shift" among weakly-affiliated Democrats. This effect was associated with improved mood. No effects were found of testosterone administration for strongly affiliated Democrats or strong or weak Republicans. Our findings provide evidence that neuroactive hormones affect political preferences." Get your T levels checked old men. Testosterone levels drop significantly with old age and increases in body fat. The result is a feminine male that votes Democrat

Singling out tariffs - as if they don’t exist already - is disgusting. And they should be called out. I’m a free trade guy. You’re a free trade guy. Should be no taxes on anything. Right? 1 1
