Supreme Court hands DOGE big wins in Social Security, records cases

The Hill [DC], by Ella Lee & Zach Schonfeld

The Supreme Court on Friday handed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) two major victories in its expanding legal battle over drastic efforts to reshape the federal bureaucracy.

In two separate emergency rulings issued simultaneously, the court lifted a block on DOGE personnel accessing sensitive Social Security Administration (SSA) systems and wiped a ruling forcing DOGE to turn over discovery in a records lawsuit.

Min age for social security needs to be raised. 62 is not old. Needs to be at least 65 and full retirement 70. Bunch of lazy boomers!

I actually don't disagree that it has to come up.  Raising it to 69 seems perhaps extreme (I believe that's the number in the BBB, but could be wrong).  One wonders why Republicans don't simply increase the top marginal tax rate to, say, 39.6% and use some of those monies to fund social security.  But hey, it's MAGA's show now.

Fix the system that government created, government administers, and government doesn’t bother to manage effectively.

Then, swing back around and we can chat about capricious and arbitrary changes to a compulsory system.
