by Pilar Arias

International Business Machines Corporation (IBM), one of the nation's largest technology employers, is planning to invest $150 billion in the U.S. "over the next five years to fuel the economy and to accelerate its role as the global leader in computing," according to a media release.

"Technology doesn’t just build the future — it defines it," Arvind Krishna, IBM chairman, president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. "We have been focused on American jobs and manufacturing since our founding 114 years ago, and with this investment and manufacturing commitment we are ensuring that IBM remains the epicenter of the world’s most advanced computing and AI capabilities."

Trump changed DC this time. Trump’s second presidency is very different from his first.

DON SURBER

The second Trump presidency is better than the first because he has more supporters—77 million voted for him instead of 62 million—and he took over from another failed president who squandered American military might and opened the border to drugs and thugs.

President Trump has the illegal aliens on the run, Democrats in disarray as DOGE shuts down their federal ATMs, and Republicans united because no one wants to be the next Liz Cheney.

But Trump also brought cultural change to the nation’s capital. He took over the Kennedy Center. Gay Pride nights are out. Patriotic music and fireworks are in.

Way to go, Pritzer!!! Finally someone with BALLS.

Rather than ensuring those you disagree with don’t know a moment’s peace as you and the overly wealthy and portly governor wish, why not focus on winning the next election?

You believe it’s a good thing for the out-party to make sure the other side doesn’t know a moment’s peace? I guess this goes along with another thing that you would be “very pleased” with.

You will certainly be singing a different tune in the future. Again, consistency is overrated.

'Take It Down': Melania Trump-Backed Cyber Bill Passes House, Heads to President's Desk

By Bob Hoge

Melania Trump has been lobbying for months for the TAKE IT DOWN Act (Tools to Address Known Exploitation by Immobilizing Technological Deepfakes on Websites and Networks), a measure that would crack down on “deep fake” porn—explicit AI-generated images depicting real people—and other nonconsensual posting of intimate pictures.

On Monday, her work paid off as the House of Representatives passed the bill by a whopping 409-2 margin. It now heads to the president’s desk for his signature (and I’m betting he won’t use an autopen):

A quick summary of the Take it Down Act:

Defines Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery (NCII).

Gives the FTC the authority to govern social media sites via the courts and fines in regards to NCII. If the FTC finds an issue or a complaint is filed the FTC can, via the courts, enforce fees or compliance with their decision.

It does insert “reasonable person” verbiage as a way to protect 1A rights.

It doesn’t define or explicitly protect “encrypted” conversations.

Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins Drops All Charges Against Beleaguered South Dakota Ranchers

By Ward Clark

Government overreach has always (and will always) be a problem, but the Biden administration seemed more than willing to take it to the next level. Overregulation was piled on overreach was piled on overzealous enforcement, and there can be no better example of this than the case of Charles and Heather Maude. The Maudes are South Dakota ranchers who had a dispute over land that had been leased by the Maudes for grazing, and instead of sitting down and talking with the Maudes, the Biden Department of Agriculture filed criminal charges. We originally brought you the story last September.

That ordeal for the Maudes is over. On Wednesday, the Trump administration's Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, announced that all charges against the Maudes have been dropped.

This un-American sentiment, this claim to a right to rule without recourse, is also precisely the prerogative that some bureaucrats under the Biden regime decided to assert, and their targets were an innocent and unimpeachable American farm and ranch family, the Maudes of South Dakota, who join us here today.

This family, targeted solely over what should have been a civil dispute over grazing rights over 25 acres of government land, was prosecuted, credibly threatened with jail sentences, so extreme that they were told to find alternatives to raise their young children. Charles and Maude live on a 5th-generation family farm in Pennington County, South Dakota, close to Mount Rushmore. There, they farm 400 acres. They raise about 250 head of cattle, and about 40 sows.

This dispute - and there was, legitimately, some confusion over the status of the 25 acres and the exact boundaries between that acreage and the Maude family land - should never have come to this in the first place. In a sane world, this would have been resolved by having one or two Department of Agriculture officials come out, sit down with the Maudes, make sure everybody understood and agreed to a solution to the dispute, and arrive at a mutually agreed-upon survey of the property boundaries.

Instead, the Biden administration threatened the Maudes with jail time. The Biden administration threatened to break up the Maude family, to effectively orphan the Maude children. And all of this is over a dispute over 25 acres of grazing land. This is the same administration, mind you, that allowed millions of unscreened, unvetted, illegal immigrants to flood into the United States.

TO BE FAIR, THEIR PRESENT SOCIETY IS 100% ORGANIZED AROUND AVOIDING THE TRUTH:

Europe’s Problem With Trump Is That He Tells Them the Truth.

Not every gripe that Europeans have with Donald Trump stems from his bluntness when he tells them the truth--Danish people aren't wrong when they say Trump is being rude to demand that they hand over Greenland to the US, even if Trump believes that the Danes can't defend the strategically-located territory. Still, the hatred for Trump has nothing to do with tariffs or bullying.

European leaders hate him because he will tell them hard truths they desperately want to deny. German diplomats literally laughed when Trump warned them that they were too dependent on Russian gas, but after the invasion of Ukraine and the bombing of the Nord Stream pipeline (conducted by Ukraine with the assistance of the United States' Joe Biden!) they were not laughing.

Early in his first term, Trump began pushing NATO countries to at least honor their treaty obligations to increase defense spending to the 2% of GDP minimum. This demand was beyond the pale. An outrage! It was Trump breaking a sacred trust, even if that sacred trust was being broken daily and had been for decades by the Europeans themselves.

How could Trump point out, quite rudely, that Europe wasn't doing what it was both legally and morally obligated to do?!

Sacre bleu!

There is a lot of angst about Trump's lack of enthusiasm for continuing the war in Ukraine until all Ukrainians of fighting age are dead or wounded, but his pressure to have Russia and Ukraine come to the peace table has exposed for all the world to see that he is right that Europe is a paper tiger and contributes almost little, aside from bases, to NATO defense. The Ukraine war has been mainly funded by the United States, which also provided the logistics and intelligence that kept Ukraine in the fight.

Aside from Ukraine, of course, which has contributed the most in blood and treasure. The Poles have contributed much, compared to their economic capability and the size of their military, but for the most part, European contributions to the war effort have been symbolic or tangential to the military fight.

Without the US, the war would have been lost. In fact, without the weapons that DONALD TRUMP gave Ukraine in his first term--Obama had refused to provide weapons to the country--Kiev would likely have been taken in weeks.

Now that Trump is refusing to put boots on the ground, a "coalition of the willing" in Europe is trying to scrape together a peacekeeping force to be based there once the fighting ceases.

CHANGE:

‘No Participation Trophies’: Trump Revamps Performance Reviews for Top Bureaucrats.

Performance reviews are about to become much more difficult for the upper echelon of federal government employees.

The Trump administration will soon introduce rules to end what the Office of Personnel Management describes as an “everyone gets a trophy” culture permeating the federal workforce, RealClearPolitics is first to report.

The ranks of the Senior Executive Service, top bureaucrats serving throughout the government and across administrations, swelled to around 8,000 under President Biden. Most live in Washington, D.C. They typically earn an annual salary between $183,000 and $250,000. An overwhelming majority, 96%, according to an OPM memo, receive above-average performance ratings even as public trust in government continues to crater.

“Above average” doesn’t mean what it used to.

Trump Intends to Keep Winning: Talks This Week With China, Canada

By Ward Clark

72250f9a-a477-4d62-a6c3-8b9ccf919e18-105

This is President Donald Trump's 16th week in office, and he shows no signs of slowing down. The upcoming week's plans include more negotiations with Ukraine and Russia, a meeting with Canada's new Prime Minister, and trade negotiations with a number of other countries, including China.

It's going to be a busy week.

Trump's 16th week back in the Oval Office is anticipated to include a meeting with Canada's new leader, ongoing talks to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, and trade negotiations with foreign nations that are expected to continue heating up before the 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs ends in July.

Canada would seem to be a priority, in part because they have a new Prime Minister, and in part because they are our primary trade partner - oh, and we share a 3,000+ mile border. We conduct nearly a trillion dollars in trade with Canada annually, and Canada places significant tariffs on American goods, most notably agricultural products. If Canada wants us to drop tariffs, they should be willing to do likewise, and that would be good for both countries. Sauce for the goose.

Hopefully, that will come up in the conversation between the president and the new Canadian leader this week.
