This could be the end of Adam Schiff

MARTIN WALSH

Schiff-1.jpg.webp

California Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff spent years in the media limelight pushing false theories against former President Donald Trump, some of which led to Trump’s first impeachment.

Now, as a potential candidate for Senate to replace the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Schiff is under a different kind of spotlight, and what it’s showing might not be good for his Senate bid.

So far, Schiff has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Feinstein, with fellow Democrat Rep. Katie Porter of Southern California in second place.

A survey conducted by the University of California, Berkeley found that among likely voters, Schiff received 20% of the vote and Porter received 17%. One-third or so of those asked were unsure which option they preferred. Sixteen people have declared at least some interest in running for the position.

But Schiff’s checkered past might catch up with him, especially after a Politico report detailed Schiff’s history of cultivating powerful interests and rewarding them with taxpayer money when it served his political ambitions.

A Politico analysis found that Schiff earmarked some $10 million to go to defense contractors who have donated to his campaigns.

Fmr Baseball MVP Steve Garvey Joins California US Senate Race

Former baseball MVP Steve Garvey joined the race Tuesday to succeed the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., giving Republicans a splash of star quality on the ballot in a heavily Democrat state where the GOP has not won a Senate race in 35 years.

Garvey, 74, launched his campaign with a video lush with baseball imagery that recalled his career as a perennial All-Star who played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. It also signaled he would lean toward the political center in a party dominated by former President Donald Trump, the leading GOP presidential candidate who could share the ballot with Garvey next year.

"I never played for Democrats or Republicans or independents. I played for all of you," Garvey said in the video, in which he also alluded to problems vexing the state from homelessness to crime. "It's going to be a common sense campaign."

Ohio Democrat Senator Appears Vulnerable in 2024

by Matt Margolis

The 2024 Senate map offers a promising chance for the Republican Party to reclaim control of the U.S. Senate. Democrats have to defend twenty seats next November, while Republicans have to defend just eleven.

It’s a more favorable map for the GOP than in 2022, raising the potential for the party to secure a comfortable margin in the Senate. It’s been clear for some time that Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) is in trouble, and new polling shows Republican candidate Jim Justice with a comfortable lead. Polls also show that Sen. John Tester (D-Mont.) is also extremely vulnerable. Another incumbent Democrat who finds himself in a competitive race is Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio).

Ohio may be a battleground state, but it’s a state that’s been getting redder in recent cycles.

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Republican Gov. Jim Justice of West Virginia for the U.S. Senate on Wednesday.

Trump made the announcement with a post on Truth Social; Justice faces a primary challenge from Republican Rep. Alex Mooney, who announced his candidacy in November for the seat held by Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin.

Another 2023 race that the Left is in a panic about.

Stoking fear is pretty much the only card Democrats have left in their deck at this point, in Virginia and beyond.

Mother Jones Tries to Scare Virginia Voters and, LOL, No

There is a big election coming up in Virginia on Nov. 7. Republicans, who won the Governor's, Lieutenant Governor's, and Attorney General's seats in 2021 -- along with the state House of Delegates -- need to win only a couple of seats to take the state Senate in 2023 and have a unified government for the next couple of years (Republicans also need to hold the House of Delegates, where they have a slim majority).

And Democrats are feeling VERY scared about that prospect. Not only does Youngkin hold a healthy approval rating in the high 50s, but also most of his policies and accomplishments have been met with solid approval. Meanwhile, state Democrat scandals continue to pile up

But when things are looking most dire, just call on Mother Jones to try to fearmonger and gaslight the election to help the flailing Democrats.

VOTING RIGHTS ARE IN PERIL. Except, no, they are not. Everyone eligible to vote in Virginia can vote. Youngkin just cleaned up the election process to minimize fraud.

ABORTION IS IN PERIL. Except no. It's not a right and it is not in danger of becoming illegal in Virginia. Virginia Republicans do, however, support protecting unborn children from leftists who want zero restrictions on abortion whatsoever.

Two House Democrats Won't Seek Re-election

Jackson’s decision was prompted by the redistricting of North Carolina, which was authorized Wednesday by the GOP-controlled state legislature. The revised map redraws several districts currently held by Democrats in favor of the Republican Party.

</snip>

Rep. John Sarbanes (D-MD), 61 years old, will leave Congress in 2025 after nearly two decades of service, he announced on October 26.

Rep. Jeff Jackson (D-NC), 41, who just took office in January after nine years in the state Senate, has also announced that he will not seek reelection in 2024.

Kay Granger, Republican Ringleader Against Jim Jordan’s Speakership Bid, Won’t Run for Reelection
BRADLEY JAYE

Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX), a top Republican ringleader who fought Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) as he sought the Speaker’s gavel, will not run for reelection, according to reports.

Granger, 80, had begun taking heat in her Fort Worth district for opposing Jordan and faced a primary challenge. She voted against the Republican nominee Jordan on the first ballot and continued to oppose him until Jordan was stripped of his nomination by a Republican conference secret ballot.

With Manchin Out, Democrats Senate Hopes Are Fading

As you’ve probably heard by now,  Sen. Joe Manchin is not running for another term in the Senate next year. Manchin would be running as a Democrat in West Virginia against Gov. Jim Justice, a popular Republican.

This move makes a lot of sense for Manchin. Rather than spend time and money only to lose a race he has little chance of winning, Manchin gets to go out on his own terms. But there’s no denying this is very bad news for the Democratic Party. In order to hold the Senate, they now need to win every seat they are defending and win the White House.
