Yeah, I think wether Beane said so or not, Shakir is the clear penciled in "starter" at slot entering camp.  Sherfield is WR3 behind Diggs and Davis, and Harty is going to be a gadget player and occasional deep ball threat.  And I expect him to hold on to that starter designation and open the season that way too.

I’m not sure a clear cut starting lineup even exists on Offense, sans Josh & Steph. Especially now with Kincaid in the fold. As with Brandon,  I like Shakir, but he was the understudy to Lil Dummy and Beasley as a true slot receiver. The hybrid 11/12 personnel package now being talked about by BB is Kincaid as the flex receiver -formerly referred to as slot. Add in dashes of Davis, Shorter, Harty, OL specialists and even Quinton Morris. Either way, Shakir will figure in -providing he doesn’t encounter the dreaded Sophomore Jinx..

Yeah, I think Shorter has a great shot at making the roster and I think its possible we could carry 7 WR's this year with him and that UDFA kid we supposedly signed to a 3 year deal that has all this ST hype that he could be the best ST player in the NFL soon.

I think they would have to feel he is one of their best 2 gunners right now and that is still a pretty steep hill to climb. Especially since Covid and the liberalised PS rules the game, more than ever, for GMs is how do I keep as many of the guys I like as possible and Shavers is one of the easier sneak to the PS guys if they want to keep 10 defensive lineman or Broekers as an extra OL or whatever it may be.

I hate to be the contrarian, but Beane is articulate, engaged, and on top of things.  That's pretty much what I would expect of any GM.  When he talks, he doesn't seem extraordinary to me.

Beane reminds me of Sherriff Andy Griffith on Andy Griffith Show.  Straight talker who is a good listener, talker and friend who tries to get everyone to work together but if he is on opposite side of table is a mistake to underestimate.  Believes in deals which are good for both sides.  Respected by almost everyone.

Interesting comments on the WR group, for sure. They've got a diversity of traits that they lacked recently.

Also interesting how TE usage might allow for several different personnel/alignment packages. They need to have the pre-programmed ability to counter defensive gameplans. Forget halftime adjustments. Show me 1st and 2nd quarter adjustments. Have the answers ready.

More IMO. Bill Polian treated some people very poorly but you never hear that from players, staff or coaches.

Partially chalk that up to a VERY different, bygone era. Some fairly open, often petty hostilities led in part to the departures of Polian and Butler. Toxic, meddling ownership and high level executives were not unusual (and definitely not unusual here in Buffalo; it's what directly led to the drought. All the bonafide GMs were chased off). Less toxic, more collaboratively "aligned" corporate culture is a newer development.

If you haven't listened to Beane on the Chris Long Green Light podcast then go and listen. Some really interesting insight into the trade conversation with Jacksonville. Basically the Jags were all in on Harrison and Beane had to basically tell Trent Baalke who he was taking to get them to do the deal (which is not usual).
