I take it that he is still alive, correct?

Correct.

American guitarist, still alive/still touring, became very popular in mid-late 70s, genre - rock and roll.

HINT:  Not touring with the same band in which he became famous.

@Gugny, I just went back... You never did say NYC.  If you did, where?  But I will take the clue! 😜

You asked these questions in this format:

What city was band formed in?

Was the band formed in Chicago?

Tommy Shaw?

I answered:

NYC

I said NYC

No.

Okay.  I was expecting this format:

No.

No.

Nobody says: "I said" in reply to their previous answer.   Nobody!  Unless it's that "time of month." 😆 🤣  Is it that "time of month?"  I deeply apologize if it is... For being a man.  😆 🤣

Frampton? He had a couple of things going on in the 70's but never "hit" it till the live album. Humble Pie was just ok to me.

LoL... He was English,  right?  But I am glad my Pamprin post (really @Gugny 's) jogged your memory? 😉 😜

Not Frampton ... but he is a Les Paul player.

Steve Miller.   But he was born in Milwaukee.

I'm reaching... the mid late 70's were my high school years. It was all BOC, Kiss, Boston, Kansas, Zappa... stuff like that.
