I call every August and tell them "my girl thinks its too expensive to keep DirecTV and the only argument I have is that I want the football package to watch the Bills. So, I need to get the Bill down and still have the football package or I gotta cancel." None of its true obviously, and they know it but they do it anyway lol. Its super easy...this year, took all of 5 min to get them to take $60 a month off my Bill for 12 months plus give me the Football Package with Redzone free. DirecTV spends $10M every year around this time staffing up the call centers to take these calls to give these discounts. Just ask for the "cancellation department", dont waste time with regular customer service, they dont have as many discounts to give.
