That was a sad article to read and it's full of animosity for the most part. We have pitchers going 5 per on 7 yr 200 million dollar contracts. Those pitchers in the article went a average of 7/8 for far less money..and that bothers them. People complained about the length of the games..so they cut down mound visits and widened the strike zone...but yet, players like Moronta can bend over to toss the rosin bag around before and after every pitch...it's a no win situation, imo. After a beautiful Sunday night game in Williamsport i was as high as a kite about the game...I'm a bit bitter after reading that..but there is some truth in it. P.S.- We have had more open seats than ever, because tanking is now acceptable...take a look at the numbers, would you pay $75 bucks to go see the Orioles,Rangers etc play? Also...bring back the Saturday afternoon games, years ago the schedule was full of those...now you might see a game or two on the schedule.Things are fixable.

Didn't mean to bring you down! There's a lot I agree with in the article, some I don't, but I still watch nearly every night.

In an attempt to get that good feeling back, me and the fam' just shared a good laugh about the Steve Lyons incident. Even wifey laughed out loud:

There’s a general lack of personality today as well with most players.  Partially because of the Hungarian ancestry but this guy was my fave

That was great, I've never seen that!

But I did see the Mad Hungarian at Shea when he was with the Cardinals. My father hated his act, I thought it was pretty cool.

Seeing the Nats as bigger sellers than the Mets brings me joy.  I wish the best for Murph.  Now I can root for him.

Nice win tonight.  Clutch hitting.  Nice fielding.  Good win.

I'm beginning to think Borenstein's days in the organization are numbered. His age might be the issue but damn how do you leave a power hitter unprotected? P.J. Conlon is not MLB material...how easy they could knock him off the 40 man next week...Borenstein paid his dues and deserves to be on the large roster by September 1st.

Smith did a nice job last night.  Hit a dinger.  Solid defense at first.

So, naturally .... Callaway sits him today.

I just don't understand this !@#$.

He did him a favor sitting him against Bumgarner. Mets scored one earned run against Bumgarner today. That raised Bumgarners ERA at CitiField. Before the game it was below 0.50. Batting Wilmer against the lefty was a no brainer.

I respectfully disagree.

I like keeping Flores in the lineup as much as possible.  But Dom Smith has shown a little something lately.  Constantly changing the lineup based on analytics is a disaster.  It's a big reason this team is 15+ games out right now.

If that's how we want to manage, save the salary and put a !@#$ing PC in the dugout and the players can manage themselves.

Fair enough, I'll take back my no brainer comment. I can agree that you shouldn't change the lineup on a daily basis solely on metrics. But I still wouldn't put Dom Smith up against Bumgarner and leave the guy that hits the lefties better than anyone else on the team on the bench. I get how that's analytics based, but I also see it as good sense. Plus I still have no use for Dom Smith.

He should have been playing every day as soon as it was clear the Mets were going nowhere and that Alonso was off limits.  McNeil should have been called up sooner.  Rosario should have 150 games in at least this year.  And Flores should have been at third all year.

Let these young guys get some experience instead of throwing Todd !@#$ing Frazier and Bautista out there.  And Heaven forbid Wright plays.

Most poorly managed team since Willie's **** tenure.

Agreed that Dom should have been playing first since the last call up (regardless what I think of him). Felt bad about the LF mishap the other night. Not fair to have him learning a new position at the major league level.

But I like the way they've handled Rosario. He's played the lions share of games and has gotten better as the season progressed. I see nothing to complain about with him, he was pretty bad at the plate early on.

Didn't McNeil start the season at AA? He's hitting great, no guarantee that happened if they called him up sooner. Plus he still looks raw at 2B. I was just reading today how they dicked around with him in the minors playing him at 2b, 3b and OF.

I also agree wrt to the Bautista, Frazier, Bruce, Wright logjam. Throw in Cespedes and I just don't know how they construct a team for next year with some of those guys still around.

Haven't been really paying too much attention these past few weeks.  Still it looks like the wheels haven't come off the team.  They won last night I see 3-0.

Well...they didn't go balls to the wall before the deadline, keeping Wheeler was key.I'm happy to finally see both Frazier and Bruce back to 100%....if Smith didn't piss off Mick in ST,he'd be seeing more playing time with the big club.Once the roster goes up in numbers next week...look for Smith to play both Right,Left and first....my train of thought suggests he will be showcased for a sale.4 pm start today...

Watched some of today's game.  It's now 9-0.

I am glad football season is here in a few weeks

The 8th inning comedy show was tough to watch.Get back to watching..it sounds like Alonso is going to see some playing time after the roster expansion.

I just got home from the game. I actually gave the fam the option of leaving after the 8th but nobody bit. The final indignity was the Nat's pitcher getting hurt after the 2nd out in the bottom of the 9th and we had to wait while they carted him off the field.

On the plus side, Matz looked great.

I guess the one positive to that is I'd assume if you were home you'd be watching the Bills game.

Its been awful so far

My brother was at the game as well. This is the first time in many years that I have not attended one, including the Toronto game on the 4th of July, since i'm getting old, grumpy and tired.I really hope to hit up Fla next spring for a couple weeks of ST games.
