It's stupid to start Vick. Their season is done. Either they are already conceding Geno is a bust or they're trying to prove something. So long as there is a chance Geno can develop, you have to throw him out there every week with nothing else to play for.

 

Tough situation for them. When your QB has lost the locker room as Geno has, you can't put him back in there without creating a bigger mess. That drawback outweighs any potential benefit of developing him further at this point. The fact he wasn't even dressed today spoke volumes.

Yeah, I would add that there is a frequently unjustified assumption when it comes to young QBs - that playing them will automatically contribute to their development. The way Smith played last week, he wouldn't learn a thing except to doubt himself more.

Or maybe Rex Ryan is more worried about his own future with the Jets than Geno's

Nobody needs to concede that. Plenty of game tape showing this guy just doesn't have it. Careless with the football, thin skinned , flips off fans, questionable leadership skills.

 

Would you follow him into battle? I wouldn't
