Fred leads with words as well as yards

Bills RB Fred Jackson has proven once again to be a valuable asset for Buffalo’s offense thus far in 2014. He racked up 108 all-purpose yards and led the team in rushing in the win over the Lions. But it may have been his words that had a greater impact on the outcome of the game Sunday.

Orton changed the play on two-pointer

Kyle Orton was pretty effective in his debut performance for the Buffalo Bills throwing for 308 yards on 30 of 43 passing (69.7%) a touchdown and an interception. One of his most important plays came on the team’s two-point conversion to tie it with nine minutes left at 14. Orton changed the play at the line.

Observations: Bills 17 - Lions 14

By Joe Buscaglia

It was a fitting end for how the offseason began.

The Buffalo Bills played their final game with the Wilson family as their owners in the city where it all started for Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Six months removed from the passing of the team’s founder and first owner, the Bills identified a new family to own the franchise that the Wilsons cultivated from the beginning.

The Bills were able to overcome a slow start on offense to shock the Lions on their home turf, giving the Wilsons one last win just miles away from their home in Michigan.

How did it all happen? It was a bit of a blur, but here are some observations from the Bills’ 17-14 victory:

A fitting finale for Wilson ownership

With the Wilson family ownership coming full circle in a final game with the Lions, team President and CEO Russ Brandon could not help but think of the late owner.

Final out what several Bills players had to say about the 17-14 comeback win over the Lions.

Dareus shines in strong defensive effort

Marcell Dareus, who was drafted by the Bills third overall in 2011, has been playing well lately and is owed much of the success the defense has enjoyed this season.
