Sorry for being so late with this everyone. With the 2014 Summer Season over now, we now move to a slower time of the year. What most moviegoers refer to as the Adult Season of movies. Despite several prominent big name movies getting great reviews during the summer time, box office numbers were down. They will likely remain down, until we reach the start of the Holiday Season in November. Football is back and kids are back in school, so there are plenty more distractions to take away from the box office. More serious fare usually hits the following two months as studios start prepping for Oscar buzz. The slate for this month is small, but there will be enough entertainment to keep folks interested.

Denzel Washington is "The Equalizer". A man believes he has put his mysterious past behind him and has dedicated himself to beginning a new, quiet life. But when he meets a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters, he can't stand idly by - he has to help her. Also starring Marton Csokas, Chloe Grace Moretz and David Harbor.

Liam Neeson stars in "A Walk Amongst The Tombstones". Private investigator Matthew Scudder is hired by a drug kingpin to find out who kidnapped and murdered his wife.

In "The Maze Runner", Thomas is deposited in a community of boys after his memory is erased, soon learning they're all trapped in a maze that will require him to join forces with fellow "runners" for a shot at escape. Starring Dylan O'Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Will Poulter & Thomas Brodie-Sangster.

In "This is Where I Leave You", When their father passes away, four grown siblings are forced to return to their childhood home and live under the same roof together for a week, along with their over-sharing mother and an assortment of spouses, exes and might-have-beens. The ensemble cast includes: Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Adam Driver, Rose Byrne, Corey Stoll, Kathryn Hahn, Connie Britton, Timothy Olyphant, Dax Shepard & Jane Fonda.

In "No Good Deed", An unstable escaped convict terrorizes a woman who is alone with her two children. Starring Taraji P. Henson & Idris Elba.

in "Dolphin Tale 2", The team of people who saved Winter's life reassemble in the wake of her surrogate mother's passing in order to find her a companion so she can remain at the Clearwater Marine Hospital. Starring Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Nathan Gamble & Cozi Zuehlsdorff.

Finally, in "The Boxtrolls", A young orphaned boy raised by underground cave-dwelling trash collectors tries to save his friends from an evil exterminator. Based on the children's novel 'Here Be Monsters' by Alan Snow. Starring the voices of Ben Kingsley, Jared Harris, Nick Frost & Jared Ayoade.

I've got this odd sort of schizophrenic attitude towards this movie where I watch the previews and read this and say "Hey, that's a pretty good cast," but nevertheless want to gouge my eyes out with a rusty spoon at the mere thought of watching them all on screen.

I know that doesn't make sense. I really can't explain it.

I've had similar thoughts about that cast. It's amazing how they can take a group like that and still put together trailers that send you running away in fear of your life. The fall can't get here soon enough. I'd really like there to be at least one movie out there that I'm interested in.

Go see "The Drop". Guaranteed better than all the shite listed above. Sorry Mark. Not your fault Hollywood is weak.

I understand Dante. I always try to stick up for Hollywood, and we had a very entertaining summer, but I admit that this is a very weak month.

And I will get to "The Drop" and some of the other independent films later.
