It’s a chip kelly type hire. everyone hates it right now so it will probably work out. I’m fine with it. Hes going to have a lot of talent to work with, Ive decided I like the nfl background. It was a big difference when watching chip last year.

After watching the video I like it too.

He learned from Bill Belichick

Had success on high level teams

Humbled and hungry (?) after failure

Congrats Bucks!  Really impressed with Sayin, cool under pressure, accurate, good pocket awareness.  He was way better than Arch.  OSU will deserve number 1 after this win.  Only weakness is Day's playcalling on offense.  What an almost waste of great receiving weapons all to push a cloud of dust at every opportunity.  Reminded me of the Michigan game last year.

I get having a physical running game identity but it's criminal not to utilize the receivers more.  They let the horns hang around too long, luckily it didn't burn them.

Hartline was calling the plays. But I agree. I sit there watching the game saying “don’t try to run it up the middle right now” and then that’s exactly what they do for no gain. Exasperating.

They won the championship last years, so okay, but I HATE when the force play calls for the sake of “identity” or whatever instead of doing the same things over and over again that the defense is UNABLE TO STOP.

This is an ongoing issue under Day.

GO WITH THE FLOW OF THE GAME.

I respect him but this drives me nuts.

Weirdly stubborn.

Good point about Hartline, possibly they also wanted to keep it simple with Sayin making his first start.  They can load a lot more on his plate after THAT performance.

Yes, I was particularly impressed with Sayin’s decision making. The only truly sub-optimal choice I saw him make (beyond not seeing some open guys) was to throw the ball away and stop the clock near the end of the game, as opposed to tucking and running and keeping the clock running.

The fact that he made such great decisions in his first start on that stage bodes VERY well.

We are so back. Quick thoughts:

Arvell Reese, Beau Akinson, and Jermaine Mathews really stood out to me on D. Glad Kenyatta is okay.

Manning's mechanics are weird.

Sayin looked more comfortable than I expected - huge relief.

JJ tried to do too much. He needs to settle down over the nice little stretch they have coming up.

GO BUCKS!

Yeah, crazy all the drops early in the game when he was throwing dimes!  I was also really impressed with his decision making, especially under big pressure.  As a PSU fan, we are screwed again by you guys as Allar follows a long tradition of PSU tall,  strong-armed lunk heads.  And Franklin can't coach the big game.  I was hoping for better this season. Oh well.

Yeah, I like to see PSU do well as long as it isn’t against us.

I hear you, if you guys had a solid passing game, watch out. Last good one was Trace McSorley. Not sure why PSU can’t get it together in that department.

The D is always good and your running backs are awesome.

it must be really frustrating.

No idea why the WRs didn’t perform to standard but good sign that sayin was accurate and poised. Texas defense had JJs number last time too in the playoffs

Yeah it's frustrating, but it's Franklin.  Until he goes it won't change so I don't invest emotionally in their success.  He mixes enough good qualities with his cheesy bogus schtick to keep his job.  I don't know why the alums and AD won't hold him to a higher standard but it's been that way for too many years.

Still love them, but he can't coach big games so our ceiling is set 99% of the time.

Just glad we don't have to play you guys and UM in the same year now, cause we can’t beat them either.  So there's a sliver more hope.🤪

You'll not get a better Coach than Franklin if you can him hahaha

He is as steady as it comes in college football

Maybe if the resources, priority and expertise to land a high level coach are no longer there, but I'd have to disagree.

While Franklin's consistently high functioning mediocrity has diminished the program's prestige a bit, I feel like there's still enough there to keep an elite level coach.

Penn State  was starting to lose a bunch of luster especially after Sandusky

He has six 10 win seasons in 11... The 11 years prior to Franklin.. 3 10 win seasons

So he's doubled what the program was doing the decade before
