Kyle Williams: "There will be changes here"

Oh us. Attacking KW as if he's the problem. Please watch game film from yesterday and watch our linebackers get SWALLOWED UP on run blocks. Kiko and company were a non factor in the run. Absolutely decimated. Couldn't fight through one block. That was a much bigger issue.

Check out the All 22 grading sometime. It is similar to coaches grading, but a little imperfect because the analysts can't determine exactly what defense (front, coverage, stunt, blitz, etc) was called. It still gives a solid indication of a player's performance.

You will find KW near the top of that list for every Bills player, every week, every season.

Love Kiko, great motor, playmaker. Needs to put on some size to take on NFL lineman. These aren't PAC 12 boys coming at him to run block him. He's a rookie, he'll get better, and he will be great. Rest of the linebacking core as run stoppers?...... boy do we need some work.

Man this board is gonna explode at this rate. Kyle Willams bashing and Dareus bashing - two of our better players on defense.

Yes, Kyle Williams has been on some miserable defenses. Kyle Williams fills one hole on a board consisting of 11 holes. There are 3 to 4 critical holes that play behind KW. Unfortunately, for the past decade, we haven't had a single quality player in any of those holes. Kiko has shown flashes of being a playmaker but he has also shown flashes of being extremely blown out of a play.

Lets face it, Hughes has been explosive and great at sacking the QB - but he's a specialist/tweener and not a 3 down LB. Bradham/Moats have no business starting in this league. Can contribute on special teams and maybe serve as depth, but starters? Nope. Lawson is another tweener who played DE in college, though Lawson has shown enough in the NFL to at least be considered somewhat reliable as a 3 down back.

We need LB's.

I like Lawson on passing downs. He's a decent passrusher, and an excellent cover linebacker.

Good post. However, I think the biggest problem we have against the run is a LB corps that is extremely subpar. We have a rookie LB and two other LB that should be nothing more than special teams. They are unable to fill the gaps and a 3-4 yard run easily turns into a 10-15 yd run.

I completely agree, the problem is the LBs, not the defensive line. Time after time I see the LBs crashing the line and filling the wrong gap, leaving no one to stop a short gain from turning into 10 yards or so. Kiko does this a lot, but he has the talent to make plays and when he does guess right the results are great. Manny Lawson's value shows up when he's not there, and the Bills have no one with his skills. But that's the end of it. The rest of the LBs add nothing.

How about cutting Jim Leonhard!! I've never seen a professional football player SCARED to tackle someone as he was trying to tackle Legarette Blount. At least Kelso tried to tackle OJ Anderson before he got the BIG FOREARM.

If you are going to cut players on the basis of one bad game this past season Whaley is going to be very busy trying to sign new players this offseason.
